So Did you call and ask what was being performed in detail?

Brake squeal in reverse like others said is normal. Even my friends Lexus squeals in reverse and they say it's normal.

Evosoil - I don't know what to say to you.. You missed the point of it I guess

Evox44 - it all depends on the dealer. I parked my car end of November and it's still not out. I got my oil changed right before and asked the dealer. They said I can drive it even after I pull it out and won't need to change the oil until the KM is reached.

I dont think you can say it's a COMPLETE money grab thing, is it expensive? yes. so is $100/hour labor, and many shops charge at that labor rate as well.

I'd guess that the brake service is removing your pads, checking for even wear on rotors, maybe grinding them??, re-lubricating when putting your pads back in with the chims or something...maybe brake fluid as well?? best thing is to ask, even though they might look at you confused because many service reps dont even know themselves what the service is about lol.
i'm fairly certain the brake inspection only consists of looking for wear and tear and measuring your rotors/pads thickness. they don't really do anything but to tell you if you need to have them serviced or not.

i just did my 96k service at erin mills mitsu and servicing the brakes was one of the items on the list and i can tell you turning the rotors or changing the brake fluid were not included. it's pretty much lubing and adjusting the sliders and adjusting your handbrakes. i paid an extra $89 for the brake fluid flush and got 10% discount for being a tlc member, the discount didn't apply to my type d servicing unfortunately. though jeff (the service manager) was pretty good with adjusting the price for the type d service to what my car needs. for example, i had my aem cai therefore i didn't need to have my air filter changed and he took $30 off the $319 service. i think most dealership does that nowadays to be more competitive tho.

I don't know about that... things degrade due to both mileage AND TIME. If you had your car sitting all winter... I would change the oil.

Not that it hurts to change your oil
BUT I really don't see synthetic oil degrading in 5 months time when it's just sitting there

sigh... your right, I made post and didnt come out properly. ( love my black berry)

But I will simplify the point. Not directed at your but everyone. I think more attention should be paid to the car. if it calls for an inspection or service at a certain time or km, you should do it. Brakes, under the hood items, tires. etc... etc...

where you do it, is up to the owner.

- Yours truly, Evosoil
