This is a very grey area in terms of service. Ask them what is going to performed from this brake service. They are going by the months you've owned the car - I think the book goes "x km or x months which ever comes first."
I personally think you don't need to do this. Especially not this early.

Different driving style and conditions make it too difficult to guess when your brakes are ok or if they are shot. Or if they do not operate properly.
There is no shortage of people on here who have smoked thru brakes very very early in the cars life lol
You drive as much as I do ... I was around that point when I went for my 24k. Brake inspection (pads/rotors/fluid), tire rotation, oil change, i think they check your filters as well (didn't on mine, aftermarket) ... probably not really necessary since your mileage is low, I still got mine done.
I didn't notice any difference after my 24k. Honestly, they probably could've just washed down the car and sat around playing solitaire and I wouldn't have known any better. In the end, they said it was fine (obviously, <17k plus mostly granny driving to try to save on gas and early braking).
Now sitting at <20k and my service reminder says inspection at 22.4k or April ... (ya, I'm overdue ... sorta).
EM Mitsu as well ... do enjoy their k-cup coffee though!

Yah I gave them a call and just asked and she said that Mitsubishi is really strict about there service schedule and when it comes to your vehicle she said it doesnt really matter in regards to how many kms you have or how many months but she said they do the brake inspection roughly a year after you've owned the vehicle and I have owned it for a year come may 1st. So in a way it makes sense
But I still don't understand WHY you need a brake inspection??? If it was free then sure. But if there's nothing wrong with your car...why just give the dealer $200 because they want it??? Wait until an official service interval.

They want your money plain and simple. Any brake squeal or fading at any point? If no to both your brakes are fine. I did a brake inspection on evo they said change em when I still had 65% left.
Mitsu calls me yesterday saying I'm overdue for an oil change I'm like well if you retards had parts it'd be i'n there twice more so leave me alone and I'll bring it i'n when I want to she shut her mouth right there.

Ya I know what you mean, theres a bit of squealing when I reverse but nothing thats major and I know Im overdue for an oil change and Im making them install my k&n oil filter at the same time but the brake inspection does seem a bit unnecessary.
lol I never got this and they have never told me this. Its just a stupid thing to get money out of you.
Im on 132000 kms and im still on my original brake pads, rotors, etc. They keep saying i have 60%-70% brake pads left.
Save your money and get the basic.

It's completely just a cash grab!
I just remembered going to a Mitsu dealer for some service... and the girl at the counter comes to me and says... "The technicians strongly recommend you do the HVAC cleaning service. You should have this done every XX months."
I just told her to tell them to STFU and do the job I was there for. They wanted to charge me a bunch more just to clean my air vents in the cabin.

If they squeal only i'n reverse that's alright try aren't designed to brake going backwards that well and just have dirt on them. My stop tech pads n rotors with randomly squeal when i'n reverse too mostly i'n the wider when car had dirt all over it.
Get on your hands and knees and physically check your pads. If you can see 1/4 inch of pad then your good to go. Honestly their brake service will check them, put grease on rotors and say they did something lol

Yah thats what I thought, in time I want to get stop techs anyways but it definetly just seems like a money grab for sure and it just pisses me off how they can look you in the face and completely lie to you lol and feel good about themselves for doing a 30 min job and charging $200
oil changes are done every 3 months or 3 or 5000 kms, whatever is first, doesn't matter if you haven't driven it.
I dont think you can say it's a COMPLETE money grab thing, is it expensive? yes. so is $100/hour labor, and many shops charge at that labor rate as well.
I'd guess that the brake service is removing your pads, checking for even wear on rotors, maybe grinding them??, re-lubricating when putting your pads back in with the chims or something...maybe brake fluid as well?? best thing is to ask, even though they might look at you confused because many service reps dont even know themselves what the service is about lol.
