Quote: I'm going to get a tune from these guys in the spring. Should I bother with a Cobb ap? I wouldn't mind a couple maps while I street the car and incase for a dealer trip.

Is it worth it getting and using still once I get past bolt ons?
? I don't get it. you're going to get a custom tune and a cobb ap? why not just get the maps from the tuner?
and as for a trip to the dealer, the moment you tune, your warranty is void so there really is no point

One map is all you need. Unless you run meth/race gas there is absolutely no need for map switching at all. If you want to revert to stock map for the dealer buy a openport2.0 cable and reflash the stock map for whenever you go to the dealer. Again, with a tephra rom there is absolutely no need for an accessport other than it may give you the fake feeling of control.

The only benefit I see to the AP would be 'easier logging' but apart from that not much else :S I hate going to log and needing to make sure my laptop has enough batteries lol

I haven't gone back to the dealer since I got the car but eventually I might have to...

What's the cable and tephra usually run?
Easy to use?

I'd like to have an option for race fuel or something higher than 91 or 94 but has ethanol. We used to have a shell that carried 110octane and i would mix that, but no idea where do get it now.

I'd rather not blow 500 on an
Ap tho that I know I'll barley use.

Lol pick up a power inverter from crappy tire and plug it into your lighterless power point.

Log too... Ha

I love my ap simple and very effective and nice to know if you throw a cel you can read or clear it. Tactrix is also very good equally good maybe better but you need to know stuff to use that plus have a laptop anyways

Cable is here: http://www.tactrix.com/index.php?opt...hk=1&Itemid=53

Tephra is a free open source rom that most tuners will use when tuning evos. Just have your tuner give you the two maps, and flash between the two.* And using the cable with evoscan and ecuflash is not very hard at all. You can read all DTCs, clear them, log the most random parameters, disable stuff like EGR, emissions' O2 check, etc. On VIII / IX you can log ACD parameters and reflash the ACD too. I'm not familiar with the Evo X rom because I have a VIII, but I know there are things like a knock light to tell you when you have knock, and drop boost on high knock, etc.

Btw open port2.0 doesn't need a laptop to log guys. It has a microSD card that it can log on as you drive.

*I'm not sure if the X can do this but I have dual map set up on my VIII where if I turn the key to the ON position and hold the throttle at 100% I can switch between the maps. You'd need to check tephra's evo X rom thread in the tuning subforum for if it can do the same.

EDIT: Everything you need to know about tephra rom: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ec...raxmod-v1.html
