Stock Dunlops at purchase are pretty bad..

Now I just purchased an 08 GTS from the dealer and I'm still waiting for a few things to go through. (Curse the bank and them not wanting to do anything on the long weekend...) but anyways, on a trip to Walmart to pick up 350 pounds of charcoal for an event my family's restaurant is holding tomorrow, i decided to stop in at the dealership to see if they had started to do any of the work to get my GTS ready for me (you know, touch up paint and what not) and I noticed the dunlops are pretty thin. By thin I mean they are right near nothing. Now this is the weird part. I could have sworn there were cooper tires on it originally but who knows maybe I misread it as it was pretty close to dark when I last test drove the car. Who knows maybe the tires aren't the same manufacture for all 4 , I didn't actually check today, but oh well.

My question is this. Am I able to get them to replace the tires? It doesn't seem to be very safe for to me. . Mind you they may last another 3 months or so till I stick a set of winters on the car.

Any info or advice is very much appreciated. Thanks.

wow, the car is 3 years old and it's still on the original dunlops?? unless the car was parked for 3 years, you need to change those tires
I think the originals only last about 30k before it's like bald
before you sign off on the papers, renegotiate and tell them you want new tires

the first mod for the gts has to be tires. they suck. period.

Yes, T-pain is right.

Get them to replace those tires before you sign off on the papers. Did you put any down payment on it?

Be firm and make them replace those tires.

The shop that does most of my work is now a Sailun distributor and I was wondering how people found these on a really hot day? Do they get greasy?

Greasy?
Can't say that I have noticed it

I did have some slipping but I'm assuming that is from the tire shine I used.

I beat up on the all season Sailuns on a test day... and they didn't get slippery as they heated up.

I think Ill end up getting the sailuns. My only question with the sailuns are how do they handle when wet?

Mind you If I suddenly find some extra money I may just go with some Toyo's or Yokohamas. Pretty much only brands my family uses and we have never had any trouble with them.

But if you take these tires beyond their upper limit beyond aggressive daily driving. Sailun is continuing to optimize their summer and all season tires to provide the best road handling possible. Its not something that can be done over night, but to be honest. They have come a long way in a short period of time.
