so someone on the Toronto Lancer Club facebook page was able to get a tiptronic thingy goin on in his car..
has anyone seen it in person? or does anyone have more info bout this? maybe pics?

You mean adding the Tiptronic ability to a Lancer that doesn't have it? All the "auto" Lancers are CVT's right?

 

yes..all autos are CVT..
like basically as oppose to just having "D", it would have the [+} and [-] to move gears up and down - kinda like the paddle shifts..

 

i have it in my car, basically i just bought a floor shifter of the gts model from a wrecker and installed it in my car. so far i'm enjoying it.

 

the Lancer comes pre programmed with everything there. It just requires the hardware. To be completely honest, I hardly use the manual mode gears, but its personal choice / preference. Sprint Booster in D mode gets me to high RPMs faster and more accurately in non full throttle uses.

More specifically for your question, you need to find a GTS hardware for the shifting. Once you have that, your good to go with very little else to do. The ECU should unlock itself.

I have a sprint booster installed but i can't even tell the difference..
but my main issue really is driving in D is making me sleepy...
atleast if i got tip, i have something else to do..

 

To a degree tip tronic may spice things up because its new. But because the gear ratios are so close together, there isnt any enjoyment in the throws / shifts. Another that annoyed the hell out of me is that when you switch from D mode to manual mod it dumps you in a useless gear. Example, your driving at 60 kmph and want to go faster, you switch it to manual and it puts you in gear 5. WTF. gear points and gear logic needs to be tweaked and changed to make driving in manual mode fun.

 

it's the same thing with my girl's 2012 elantra..
heck, that one even jumps to 3rd gear from rip it all the way up on the 1st gear - which kinda makes sense to me..

but hey, if anyone knows a shop that can do this for me - pls do share! =)

 

His Name is Terry...He has a GT CVT and got them to put the S-CVT into it with Paddles and stuff.

i got mine at car-parts.com, just look for a gts floor shifter and it's plug and play. i did mine by myself and it took me about 30 minutes to install.

If you do come by i`ll make sure to txt him to come. Although personally I dont see why you would want to install it. The 5 Speed Manual Lancers are WAY better driving...but thats just my 2 cents
