Looks like a gamble to me.

Someone drove the crap out of this one. Look at that less than pristine engine bay.

Powertrain warranty has expired, and no notation on an extended warranty. I wouldn't want an SST tranny car without one.

Pretty nice price, 122k isn't that bad, but that engine bay is disgusting. I don't clean mine and it's 10x

again, this is a cheaper alternative to purchasing a new one for over 30grand. Its in average condition so you can expect to pay that amount. A dirty engine bay isnt anything to get a big deal about. I want an Evo 9 and I already know that those cars will have the crap driven out of them. Its a used car, thats what I can expect. Also, The engine bay looks like a typical lancer engine bay. Dirty and dusty. This isnt uncommon.

no different than what happens to EVO 8's and 9's. That is even worse cause your importing the car blind lol

I'm sorry, but beg to differ, and here is why:

The filth under the hood aside, the big thing is, this isn't an Evo 9 or any other model with a manual transmission. This is a Ralliart with a lot of miles, and SST twin clutch and no warranty. That's the point of my posting. It's the SST that makes a car with this much wear on it unattractive. If it was a traditional manual, it would be a non-issue. I've purchased cars with more mileage than this one had have kept them for over 10 years. Had the tranny replaced on two of them, but that was only $1500 to $2k a pop.

Mitsu doesn't offer any rebuild path for the SST, so if it goes, you are looking at at $10k + labour for a full replacement. The issues with SSTs in Ralliarts are well documented. Have a look at the other message forums or sites specifically devoted to the Ralliart. I love these cars, but until Mitsu gives owners an out in terms of rebuilds of the SST, it will remain the Achilles heel of any car that comes with one.

True that Mitsu does not, but the aftermarket has stepped in to fill this void.

As far as reliability goes, the "well documented" issues seem to be somewhat over-represented in this forum, and it seems that those with problems drive their cars in a certain, ahem, spirited way. FWIW, I have 121,000 on my RA, and the SST has been entirely problem free. I drive it normally, with some more sporty driving on occasion, but I take care. I don't pretend I have launch control by holding the brake, for example.

As far as I remember, All the RA`s I ever sold to my customer`s since 2009, Not one has come back saying this. Their cars were modified too. I dont ever believe in the "cars fault", I blame the drivers (other than Toyota, I blame them lol).

I`ve had Eclipse customers come back with issues but none of my EVO,RA, or N/A Lancer customers have had issues with their cars.

I would buy this car right now if it wasnt Rotor Glow and was WW and had the stock Rims on it. For that price I`d be able to knock maybe another 1-2grand and get myself a sick ride. Though I`ll stay strong and keep searching for an 2006 IX MR

Honestly... I think a EVO 8/9 is too "hardcore" and raw... let alone the RS version... for Enjoi. Enjoi have you driven an EVO 9 before?

I think an EVO X MR Touring is more the car for you...

The sst problems are very far and between. Sure you can pull up many threads on failures etc, but the 10 who posted either had 2008"s which are not updated with new sensors that kept crapping out or whatever they did to destroy it. Like likely launching it daily like Terry does.

My 2010 mr-t sst with 56,000km making 450+whp and 400+tq hadn't skipped a beat. In fact..in stock form you could really feel the clutch slipping itself etc. Especially first thru 3rd when your on it hard. Now that it's been tuned it doesn't shift like butter but it hasn't slipped yet.

Corey fulfill your dream get that car you want
