As far as reliability goes, the "well documented" issues seem to be somewhat over-represented in this forum, and it seems that those with problems drive their cars in a certain, ahem, spirited way. FWIW, I have 121,000 on my RA, and the SST has been entirely problem free. I drive it normally, with some more sporty driving on occasion, but I take care. I don't pretend I have launch control by holding the brake, for example.
The aftermarket kits don't address all of the issues causing SST failure. I don't know what the policy here is for mentioning other sites, but this has been reviewed at length somewhere else. Mitsu doesn't sell the most common parts that fail in the SST separately either.

PM me if you are interested in joining that thread on the other site, and if you have additional info that can help out, that would be of benefit to everyone.

I`ve had Eclipse customers come back with issues but none of my EVO,RA, or N/A Lancer customers have had issues with their cars.

I would buy this car right now if it wasnt Rotor Glow and was WW and had the stock Rims on it. For that price I`d be able to knock maybe another 1-2grand and get myself a sick ride. Though I`ll stay strong and keep searching for an 2006 IX MR
Raymund at Scarborough Mitsubishi told me himself they had replaced two SST transmissions on Ralliarts, and neither instance was caused by hard driving or mods. There are instances of this mentioned elsewhere, and I won't go into it any further than this posting, but it does happen.

I don't want to be a nay-sayer either, and people can buy what they want.

One thing is clear, Mitsu does not have a repair path for the SST aside from complete replacement, and no transmission lasts indefinitely. Anyone buying a car such as this should at least be aware of this info and can make an informed decision.
