Hi All! In an effort to try and save some of you thousands of dollars, I thought I'd chime in and let people know that as they swap for snow tires, they should take the time to spray some rust proofing on their ACD pump!

Sugegstions on the interwebs said that the problem may be caused by corrosion from salt. So, while you have the back right wheel off, pull back that fender and spray away!

You know just spraying anti-corrosion on the outside of the pump isn't going to do anything. The whole pump is surrounded by a black housing already. The problem is that salt is getting inside of the housing and into the pump itself and, corrodes from the inside and locks everything up.

 

Yes, but it first has to corrode the outside and seals to get in.

The black housing is not sealed. In fact, it is open behind the black fender piece directly behind your wheel. Road mist easily circulates in there.

$5 for a can of RustChek is pretty cheap insurance for me.

 

Just had my car sprayed by Krown, and picked up an can of their solution for the ACD pump area. It's only $10.
