Need BOV Recommendation
Need BOV Recommendation
Et al,
I need some recommendations on BOVs. Please, dont tell me to use the search, ive been on this forum for 3 years. Anyhow, i purchased an MR Bov about 3 months ago. I thought it was great, at first, but shortly after i noticed rpms dropping to 700. While frustating, this was fine, but then came the rpms dropping down to 100 and shooting up to 900. This doesnt happen often, but it happens ALWAYS on k-turns. Ive stalled about 3 times and near stalls about 50 just coming to a stop sign, or a light, or on a hill.
Ive tried my friend's Greddy S. No stalling, no dropping of rpms. I dont like the flutter and i dont like the nintendo game sounds that come from this BOV. If you can change this BOV to make, "pshh," all the time and NOT, the sound of beating zelda, while holding 22 psi...that would be fantastic.
My question: Give me a blowoff valve that not only sounds stock, but works. I realize all cars react different, but i hope ive given enough background information to help me with a better alternative.
So far i am liking:
APS - May actually get this but want to look into it more
Anyone have thoughts on the Blitz Dual?

I have the APS dual vent valve and it works great. It recirculates like the stock valve and under heavy boost it vents to atmosphere. It also sounds great...not loud at all but loud enough that the car next to you will hear it. Great craftsmanship too.

PLEASE TELL ME YOU ARE KIDDING?? The Forge recirculating valve is a piece of crap!! Took it out after two months and went back to stock. No lubricant on spring, if it gets stuck, blow-back will occur...unless that's something you want to have happen?!? If you are running anything more than 16psi (stock, don't kid yourself, stock is NOT 19 psi), then any OEM BOV will not work. GReddy is the only BOV that I have seen to hold more than 20psi...but I didn't look past that one. Do a serarch on Options Auto Salon, or any manufacturer's website for specs...

I didn't say it happened to me...but being that the part IS NOT lubricated, it is possible for that to happen. Again, if you want to put yourself at risk for that to happen,it's your car, not mine. But there was another EVO VIII in my local delaership due to turbine failure scraplen in it...and guess what from?!? I bet you can fiure it out per our posts...Good luck with that FORGE POS, I mean BOV!!

I have the exact same experience with the MR valve. Is anyone using the WORKS adjustable BOV? It's pricey ..... is it worth it?
