50 Trim to FP Red Upgrade?

Hi Guys.

I got your 50 trim kit and I'm running on pump/meth at 28-29 psi, 500 whp, 447 tq. I've been reading a lot about the FP Red turbo and the midrange power/torque is a lot better than my 50 trim although they are making the same power up top. My question is - is it worth it to upgrade to FP Red? I want something that spools quicker than my current kit right now. Should I get FP Green instead?

Pls. help. Thanks.

I would stick w/ your turbo kit and either stroke the motor if you want quicker spool or bolt on a larger turbo if you want more power. I run a 50-trim as well and the spool isn't much worse than the Green/Red and I'm making a ton of torque on E85.

I actually want more midrange torque for daily driving. I've compared my dyno sheet to FP Red dynos and usually they are at least 70 lbs more torque between 3000-4200 rpm. My 50trim boosts a little later then hits hard around 4200-4400 rpm. I just don't know if that 70lbs more torque is a really a big difference on how the car feels and if its worth the money. Or should I get HTA35 for some serious fun..

well if the lag bothers you, then it wouldn't make sense to go to a larger turbo. I would recommend to find someone in your area who has an fp red if possible and compare...

yeah, I want more power down low that's why I'm thinking of even getting FP Green. Is there a huge difference between a 50 trim 500 whp and a FP Green 400-420 whp one?

im in the same boat as u with a 50 trim lookin to possibly switch over to a FP red.

i dont run meth tho, im purely on pump gas. so that extra added torque in the midrange wud be nice lol

To kill the LAG best thing is a 2.3 motor,I drove my buddys car with the our 50 trim setup cars has alot more top end.

My red is a blast with 2.3 but if you already have the turbo best thing is built her.

I think is best thing is to ask people running the cars with what setup your looking to get.

Well, I think I can do simple subtraction.. But what I'm trying to say is - will the 50trim evo blow away the FP Green lets say on a 30mph 2nd gear roll? With the instant spool of the Green, it will pull away quickly and probably your doing a 100 mph already before the 50trim catches up.

Manny,

Is the FP Red a direct bolt on on your 50 trim kit?

hey, john. Maybe we can meet up sometime. Pinoy din ako. There will be an AutoX meet in Englishtown this coming Saturday. I'm going to try the Evo out, I normally use the BMW 335I, got low end grunt. That is why I'm concerned with the 50trim because it won't pull you out of the corner unless you downshift to first gear.

There is a YouTube vid of me going head to head with a green. The green pulls away.. But I can honestly say this was due to the car pulling timing and hitting the limits of the map sensor. Got the problems sorted out and shouldn't have anymore issues taking a green from a roll... As far as the red my cousin just put one on and he is making a liitle less peak whp/wtq then me. We will have to do a run to see. Mind you his is a ix mine is a viii

Do you have a 50trim or FP3065 turbo on the vid?

Thats not the vid.. Do a search under richgoat. I cant post the direct link on this site as the mods will delete it. But in that vid you saw that was a green vs. 3065. I was in the 3065 in that vid. as you can see the 3065 walks the green.
