Regarding the controller:

Is there a way to know when the valve is fully closed so that the motor doesn't burn out?

I know you guys sell the QTEC controller for this purpose, but is that included with this downpipe? For a $475, it should be...

I've been waiting for the QTP downpipe for a long time, but if the QTEC controller isn't included, I just can't justify $475 + $110 = $585. I'll just unbolt my testpipe at the track.

You can tell by the sound of the car.

The controller was just designed to be an added feature. For an auto one push button switch. The regular toggle does not burn the motor up. You just have to hold the switch for 4-5 secs and let go. Kinda like a power window switch.

So its in.

Came with everything I needed except extra wire for positive and ground for the switch.

But it is awesome. seals up tight when closed I don't even notice its there till I open it up and scare little children... lol

only complaints is that you lose one of the cross member supports (one of the 2 tubes that run under the exhaust.) And they charged me 25 shipping instead of the quoted 20. without telling me (they just put it on the CC bill)

but it shipped fast and was packaged well.

I have an Evo 9 RS, and I was able to fit both cross member supports. It's a nice piece. We'll see what happen, I get my car dyno today.

For me, an open downpipe was worth more on the track than it was on the dyno. Probably, it will be the same with the QTP downpipe. On the track, my gain was 2.5 mph. On the dyno, it was 16 whp. Here's a thread about it:

i have had the exhaust cutout on my E9MR for 6mths & the only thing i can
say is all hell breaks loose once its opened up at the ease of an electronic switch...

replaced the catalytic converter with a customised 3" "Y" pipe together with the cutout.

pics show the intial setup i had. now there is no extension from the cutout.

got the exhaust shop to weld the 3" 90 degress elbow directly to the cutout, facing downwards.

This thing rocks!

I'm Jealous without smacking the pretty Chrome pipe with a hammer there was not going to be a way to get mine in.... oh well I didn't really notice a loss in the handling but I haven't been back to the track yet either.

I had a problem fitting mine but i used 2 washers on each side and it was enough of a drop to allow me to bolt it on.

On another note does anyones dp vibrate against the trans? When the engine is below 2000rpms the vibrations cause the dp to vibrate against the trans and make an annoying noise. anyone else?

That's the best cutout setup I've seen yet

Wow, that's about the coolest thing I've seen. I can run a stock exhaust for daily driving and open dump for racing. I love it.
