To help others in need is what we do as Americans. It's the policy/MO that we live by. We've conducted ourselves as the World Police and Humanitarians for over 80 years now, we can't stop now. I'm an active duty Army vet myself of 15 years, and I would never turn a blind eye to victims in serious need. With that said, I agree we have multiple issues we as a country should be concentrating on as well, but they are in life and death situations now. We sure as hell can't help everyone, but deciding to give direct aid to those in Haiti was a no-brainer. I know that is not the sentiment of everyone, but we can't sit back and do nothing. To be quite honest I would much rather help a person on death's doorstep, then pay taxes twice to bailout the banks and large 4 corporations that helped dissolve our economy. Just my .02 cents.

Give what you can, keep what you can't... Pretty simple really. God Bless America...

Unfortunately I dont agree with this. The government takes enough money from me. My donation im sure is part of the federal taxes... This whole concept is a joke, like the fat cats with deep pockets in the corporate world are going down there to help??? They are just looking for a new vacation spot with a functional airport..

Life is a party right? I mean everyone wants palm trees and sunshine 365 days a year...

Thats why I picked PA. There are no earthquakes, tornadoes, hurricanes and killer volcanoes.

Here is the truth whether you choose to believe it or not. REGARDLESS OF WHAT WE DO WE WILL ALWAYS BE THE ENEMY IN THE END.

No im not an ahole, I might sound like one... I CARE ABOUT MYSELF AND MY FAMILY.

you choose to preserve for family and self is absolutely your choice. I for one am not here to judge you for it. In fact, in most cases I feel the same. Your opinion that people go there for a vacation seems pretty preposterous though. I would consider some may go for recognition or even a sense of self worth, but in all honesty, if they go at all and help, what's the issue... They paid their own way.

Here is the truth whether you choose to believe it or not. REGARDLESS OF WHAT WE DO WE WILL ALWAYS BE THE ENEMY IN THE END.

I'm sorry you feel that way. After what I've seen, I really don't care what other countries think or say about what we do... The US had or has the best intentions in mind. That's the truth, whether someone else doesn't see it that way or not.

Your choice to decide on what's best for you and yours is your God given right. I hope you continue to have that right.

This isnt supposed to be a politically charged issue. Save it for OT please? Remember that real peoples lives are being torn up. If theres any sort of evom collection, count me in for a few bucks.

Agreed.

political theory and such is very exciting and thrilling to debate, but there are people who are dying from treatable infections daily. Illnesses that can be prevented/cured with simple meds.

I don't think it's fair to punish a people for what we think their government has done, or what ours has, or even for what they might do in the future.

No one is forcing anyones hand in turning over their money. I think this thread is for those who are interested in making a contribution. If you feel that it's not within your means or values and ideals, you don't have to.

But you don't have to question those who want to contribute either.

I don't know why I haven't been getting my thread subscriptions. I've read the replies and most are positive. Thanks for the positive comments

I find it rather interesting that it's only 2 pages long. Had this been a negative review thread it would have reached 8 pages by now .

Maybe we as a community need to do a review on ourselves.

Thanks to MAP for stepping up to the plate. We'll see what we can come up with to join your effort.

So I'm not the only one who thinks like that. I thought I was the only one. you said it perfect.

i APPRECIATE your Donation and i'm sure your money is helping a poor child get a drink of water or a hot meal and maybe some clothes to put on their back...

Anyway, I totally support the idea and intent of this thread. Although I have already donated to the Red Cross, I'm ok with sending a few more dollars if we can put something together as a community for the people of Haiti.
Well put...i Agree but everyone has their opinions on things...can't be upset at that...that's what makes the world go round right.

Dude...everyone is in title to their opinions and views in things...No offense taken..although it hurts me a little knowing that we are a band of brothers that share the same similarity...a beautiful machine...now you are a marine i greatly appreciate your services...i have a lot of marine friends...and i'm pretty sure a soldier in your unit who is fighting right next to you...or to even take a bullet for you is haitian and is truly affected by what you said...again...no offense taken but at a time like this...it's not really about gov money and debts...it's about humanity brother and i'm pretty sure as a human being no one in this world will just sit and not do a damn thing or to even criticize the whole situation...Like our friends say...a $1 makes a difference..God Bless you and your Family sir...

I'm Haitian and both my mother and father are in Haiti right now. Thankfully they're okay, but it kills me inside to see the country in peril. I have donated here and there where I can and would definitely invest into something like this. That previous poster is such an a**hole.

I'm fortunate and lucky enough to have been born in the US but I don't ever forget how bad things are in my country and other countries as bad as Haiti... but that's just sheer ignorance and a cry for attention. After it's all done and said God is the only one that can judge us and I don't wish harm to anyone but God is good and works in mysterious ways and I hope he opens this guys eyes.

@SparkTech
I appreciate the effort to setup some type of charity system to help Haiti but you made a valid point. If the topic at hand were something more frivolous others would be all over it, but hey c'est lavie. Thanks again and thanks to anyone who have donated. God bless.
