EVO M for Haiti Relief

Just throwing this out there. Maybe as vendors we can come together and donate a small percentage of sales.

It doesn't have to be alot every dollar counts. Remember some of the people affected normally live on $1 a day.

It got me to thinking, i've had a leaky bath tub faucet and we have it so good here that we can just watch water go down the drain. They don't have any water to drink. Needless to say this weekend i'll be attacking the leak.

Any ideas or interest?

I donated on a few Ebay purchases I had this week.. If every single buyer on ebay that bought something paid just 1.00 extra i bet it would be more than enough to rebuild the whole island..

Great idea! Maybe the vendors could get together and do something similar to the Winged Warriors raffle put on by the Midwest Evo Club? I'm sure that would raise a lot of money.

I think Mike has the best idea. For every purchase made on each item - $1.00 or $2.00 goes to the relief....

For the past 2 or so weeks, I have been on a huge kick about how good we really have it.... We probably couldn't survive over there, we would be lost without our I phones - internet - and Hollister / American Eagle /

There are people who don't eat food / drink clean water / or have medicine.... and we as americans complain about the most tribual things.... SHould I buy an evo 8 / 9 / X.... lol, using this as an example but we just take for granted how easy we really have it here....

Just think how much money it would be if every store donated $1.00 for every purchase for the next month?!

It would be impossible to get everyone to pitch in but at least for god sakes I would love to see people at least treat one another differently.

I emptied my house the other day of any piece of clothing that I have not worn in the last year and brought it to a shelter and the salvation army....

I didn't think I had that much, I literally had 4 HUGE bags of clothes.... something sooo small but made me feel soo good to know that someone will at least have something to wear or shoes or sandals on their feet....

Certainly power in #'s CNN reporting 700,000 texts with $10 donations in a 1hr period. Still a small drop in the bucket but definitely encouraging.

I remember in 04' we got 4 hurricanes in a 3 week period and we were without power for 7 days and it was HOT. We suffered no real damage except the screens in the porch. It was pretty miserable and I spent some sleepless nights but we still had the house. These people have nothing left. It just puts suffering into perspective and now I feel like a wuss

not to sound like an *** or anything but i think we as a country need to stop worrying about everyone else in the world and start working on our OWN domestic issues first. el nino is about to hit the west coast where we are and probably gonna flood the LA river again and knock out power etc. but instead of preparing for those internal issues we are spending millions on some other countries who hate us anyway. maybe its because im a marine and i have a different perspective on this but i think we need to fix our own problems before fixing the world. like giving 100 million dollars away that WE DONT HAVE in the first place?!?!? we have trillions of dollars of national debt the USD isnt worth a damn thing anymore and we are just giving away money. sure i feel for those people they are poverty and people are dying, but we have poverty here people have no jobs etc. let the world handle the world for a while i think the US has done enough. thats my rant on the subject. hope i didnt offend anyone but i just hate seeing our president dump more money and put us in more of a hole that we are never gonna dig out of.

To FTY: While I do agree to an extent that the US government need not get involved if private parties want to donate whats the issue. As far as our national debt its always been negative. You have to look at it from an economic stand point. There have only been 2 years total the our country has never been in debt and there are a limited number of ways to get said debt gone. You can raise taxes which will hurt our country even more putting more low income families into poverty or you can print more money which will de-value our dollar even more and put us further into the recession. Sorry to go off on the economics lesson lol.

Getting back to the point at hand since theres nothing the Gov't can really do to clear our national debt and yes I do agree that our Gov't doesn't need to get involved, but if private parties want to get involved I say more power to em!

Well I'm sorry to break it to you but you do sound like an ***. I understand and agree that we do have our own issues and that we should be focusing on resolving those first. However, greed and living above our means is what has caused us to have trillions of dollars of debt.

Anyway, I totally support the idea and intent of this thread. Although I have already donated to the Red Cross, I'm ok with sending a few more dollars if we can put something together as a community for the people of Haiti.

i in no way meant to discredit the cause as far as private parties are concerned i think its great people wanna donate and help etc. i sent my 10 dollar text thing myself i just kept seeing all this on the news about our government etc. and they are sending our troops there to help spending more government money etc. sorry for the rant like i said i dont mean to discredit the cause its a good thing to help others just thinking that our government has done enough.

We borrow money back from china, its all good. Soon enough china will actually own stake in US corporations as repayment.

Think of the bright side, atleast things might be made in the US again ahahah
