What I would like to see is a redesigned case made of billet using full FEA engineering to make it lighter than stock yet stronger. I wouldn't buy it because I don't need it, but it would be cool just to see what could be accomplished.

Making one lighter than stock would be some feat for sure. The stock one is thin and flimsy and billet is much more dense in terms of material. I don't think making a billet case that's lighter than the stock OEM case is even possible.

If we nuke the TC next, then that's exactly what is coming next.

Once the 5 axis comes in, April/May, we can do those as well.

Centroid. Just waiting to finalize everything and they should get to building her. I'm told April/May before it will be ready.

Cool. Congrats on the capital purchase.

The company I work for has a Mazak for small parts and 9 big 5-axis precision mills... err.. really big (100’ x 20’ x 8’). www.janicki.com So if you need big molds made... you know where to go

There are more. Most all cracked cases, from what I've been told, are due to a casting flaw from the manufacturer in some of the housings . . .

A LOT. After speaking with the guys at AMS and AWDmotorsports, it's really not all that uncommon in the big hp Evo's. Mike said that they had split several just themselves.

^ JI already did a carbon mast. There's several good reason why JI's is steel. They don't give the dynamic accuracy tests on that mill either... I bet they're not within an order of magnitude of Janicki in terms of accuracy.

That makes sense. The whole reason why carbon parts are good for aero and powertrain components is because of its strength, yet flexibility. The latter I would guess is not as high as steels and certainly not titaniums.

Not sure if you saw, but the precision is:

standard: X-/Y-axis +/- 0.2mm; Z-axis +/- 0.17mm/m
