My Experience APS BOV
I have a 03 EVO 8 and I thought that I would share my experiences moving from the plastic stock BOV to the APS. First of all, let me state what performance parts that I have on my car. I currently have the following:
Vishnu Signature TBE
Vishnu Cam gears (set at +2/-2 In/ex)
GSC 272 cams in/ex
Vishnu XEDE w/o smart (controlling boost)
Walbro 255 HP pump
Before adding the APS BOV, I have never hit fuel cut do to excessive boost. I have driven in temperatures ranging from 20 F to 110 F. However, after the addition of the APS BOV, I can easily hit boost cut at 70F. Additionally, the performance of the car seems crisper and does not seem to fall off with elevated temperatures, like it previously did. Of course, this is all seat of the pants....so take it with a grain of salt.
The change in boost cut tells me that the stock plastic BOV did leak contrary to the opinion of many of the sites contributors and probably was causing the turbo to operate outside of the efficiency islands. This probably was causing a more dramatic affect on performance when the weather was warmer.
Some of the sites contributors will be interested in the sound of the APS BOV. Personally, I was more interested in performance. However, the general consensus on the site was that the APS gave the best performance (i.e. no bucking, surge, stalling, etc.). The sound of the BOV is not that impressive. In fact, you will only here it if you let the boost get above 12-14 psig and slam the throttle shut between shifts. I have heard the sound described as a loud "sneeze" and I would have to agree with this on all accounts. If you are looking for a LOUD BOV, this is not what you are looking for. However, if you are looking for a good quality BOV and do not mind that it is dual ported, this is a pretty good canidate.
Well, I hope that this will be helpful to anyone who is trying to make a decision.

It's a good valve, but it will not run as smoothly as the stocker. Period. This does not mean that it won't give you acceptable drivability, but it wont be as good or better than stock. It does however hold boost much better, and the sneeze is easy to get used to.
I just got rid of my aps not long ago and changed to the forge rs. The driveability of the aps was better in my opinion. I switched b/c I am running alky in the spring and thought it would be better to hold boost. Dynoflash tuned with the aps and I have never heard of a bov screwing up a tune, although I did change the upper pipe and boost controller at the same time. Any thoughts from anyone?

I have to disagree with you regarding the drivability. Believe it or not, the stock plastic BOV leaked and cause surging problems at low boost and low throttle openings. I have not experienced any of that with the APS. However, maybe my stock BOV was the exception and not the rule. YMMV.
Do you have the APS yourself?

IT DOESN'T HURT THE PERFORMANCE like other VTA BOV, APS only vent partial air to open under full throttle.
APS can be loud if you get cone filter, you can hear everything .
