The Buschur Racing experience.
I planned my trip to Buschur Racing nearly a month ago and was able to setup a date for 12/27/06 to install the following parts:
1. The remainder of BR Stages 1-4
2. BR Alcohol Injection Kit
Prior to my appointment the major stuff on my 05 Evo was:
1. AEM EMS
2. AMS TBE w/ test pipe
3. ARP Head Studs
4. Comp 280 cams
5. Greddy Profec EBC
6. Unorthodox Racing Ultra T Cam Gears
7. Walbro Fuel Pump
Anyway I got to Buschur on Wednesday morning around 8:15 AM.
Dan Buschur was waiting there for me with all the parts.
Here is where it gets tricky.
I originally ordered the BR Deluxe FMIC but changed my order to Race FMIC after reading an evom post from Dave Buschur stating that the Race FMIC would be fine for the stock turbo.
For a while it was uncertain whether a Race FMIC could be fabricated by my appointment date.
Anyway this morning after seeing the car, I see that they were able to get the Race FMIC fabricated and installed on my car: a very pleasant surprise.
Dan Buschur and Steve installed all the parts in one day and I was told that David Buschur would be tuning my car’s AEM the next day around 10:30AM.
This morning I meet David Buschur and his son and the AEM tune starts just before 11:00 AM.
Minus a short break for lunch by David Buschur, he proceeds to tune the car on pump and pump+alky injection. The session ends just after 1:30 PM, which is a good 2 hours tuning my car’s AEM EMS.
Car made 313 whp and 300 lb-ft at 21psi on pump, nice AFR between 10.8 - 11.5.
On pump+alky the car made 357 whp and 357 lb-ft at 26 psi.
He answered all the questions I had, explained to me all the dyno runs, and all the associated nuances.
The only hiccup was that it seems my Forge RS BOV wasn’t holding as much boost as David Buschur wanted and he suggested that I change the valve.
By far the funniest part was when David Buschur asked me to take the car for a spin while he logged the car’s AEM.
He told me to floor it and (chicken that I am) only go to about 80% full throttle. Honestly, I was just trying to get used to the power. The next time he asked I was able to get the car full throttle.
The car runs much smoother after the tune and with the installation of the stainless steel clutch line and clutch adjustment, it shifts just as well.
It’s going to be hard to stay off boost on the drive back.
Aside from nearly crushing my cousin Dan’s hand with David Buschur steel vice grip-like handshake; all was well.
Like I said before, definitely worth the drive.
Once again thank you to everybody at Buschur Racing for their time and effort

Those numbers seem very good especially the methanol numbers. I know the feeling after the tune when David says, lets go for a ride.
My car never goes anywhere but Buschur. Even though it is quite far from here (850miles round trip) I am always happy on the way back home. I will be there in a month again. (can't wait)
Have a safe trip

For those of you who haven't seen the Bushcur Experience first hand, you're missing it. I've made 3 round trips in the last 8 months. 1031 miles one way. He's currently doing a complete build for me on my 2nd IX RS. Only Buschur will ever build anything for me. David and Dan have it together. PERIOD. Can't wait for my build to be completed.
Thanks for the review! I wish there could have been more excitement for you
I mean you made the appointment, we built the car, did the tune and you drove it home.....all as planned. No being stuck in a hotel or having anything stolen like some of the more exciting trips I read about lately. Smooth is boring but it sure feels better when it goes smoothly
The car was for sure fast. 357 whp/357 torque from a stock turbo's EVO on pump/alky on our dyno is strong.
Thanks a lot for coming in and seeing us! Sorry about the handshake

Definately agree with BR FTW! I have already wrote my reviews about Buschur Racing and i would highly suggest this shop for parts for your Evo. They've been in the business for quite some time now and definately know what they are doing.
