Slow Boy ????
I got the conrods on November from the shop you sent them and gave them to my engineer to ckeck them before closing up all engine and since we were waiting for some parts to finish the car completely, parts which we received this month and finally tried to finish everything up but rods were problem. As for the five months to tell you this you are wrong on 4 December 2006 i had a reply from SBR Inc here in evo forums to my private email answering to my problem and telling me to change bearings which i did but nothing happened.
So,you admit that i have been sold the wrong conrods and i have tried everything to fit them up but nothing and now you are telling me to pay double to wait and get an other pair of rods....
and making exprmnts on a motor project of one year for 1000hp???????

and making exprmnts on a motor project of one year for 1000hp???????If you use 6bolt Bearings, you should have no problems assembling the motor. I don't know what you ordered, since you were not the one to place the order, and the rep that took the order is no longer here. So, you bought them from another company, who bought them from us. Do you see how it could be pretty difficult from my standpoint?

I need to clear out something overhere. I am the one who sold the Manley Connecting rods to TTOPPOUZI which i have bought from Slowboy Racing. This case goes many months back but just now i was lucky to see this post.
Back in 2006 I ordered 2 sets of Manley Con Rods from Slowboy Racing for EVO 8. By mistake the sales man shipped to me 2 sets of 6 Bolt Manley Rods. When we realized that we had both sets shipped back to Slowboy Racing for replacement. When SBR received the rods they informed me that one of the 2 sets had been modified by someone so they couldn't exchange that one. That set of rods is the one i have sold to TTOPPOUZI. SBR suggested that they could have the rods modified by Manley to fit 7 Bolt crankshafts, so we decited to have them modified. When i asked their engine builder he told me that he modified the rods to fit the EVO 8 pistons and later on he found out that they couldn't fit onto the crankshaft also. He agreed that the best think to do under the circumstances was to have Manley modifying the rods. The rods were shipped back to the customers. Their engine builder checked the rods again and confirmed to me that they perfectly fit their crankshaft...

The issue is only ONE ..The victim and the money damages was upon me/us.Maybe the engineer told Hyper rev that after multiple mods the rods fitted on crank but when he tried to fit the bearings on the rods(both sets evo original and an other of vr-4 engine) it was impossible since nothing could fit on them.So to stop this argument among a lot of others and since we saw that no-one could help we paid an other set of conrods with those left in stock (and now fit only to VR-4 engine and with evo pistons as i was informed)...Subject closed, damaged done among with the manley dual valve springs that have no fitment on the engine and look like honda ones,so to stop more arguments and fights we took over an other damage and pay double for others since we have been waiting for 2 years almost to finish the car and we decided not to wait any longer and keep fighting and getting wrong parts with no-one to help correct this asap...

I can speak from personal experience that SBR is very reasonable and make amends for mistakes. even when you are not the original buyer (show me any other vendor that will take care of someone like that) You can only ask them to do so much before YOU become unreasonable.
Its no fun to lose out on money or the headache of wrong parts. But I must assume you purchased them from HyperRev to save a few bucks and now its SBR's fault? I fail to see how.

So,the point is i am stuck with the manley rods of VR-4 engine with evo pistons and dual valve springs that the sure thing is that are not for evo now for which car i do not know, maybe they are fitted in honda engines.
I am not wishing anyone that started to build an engine to go threw what we have gone threw this parts delay and loss of money.....
That is the reason i tried to contact personally SBR to ask for help, because threw Hyper Rev was and is impossible, since he had or has no intention in helping, and due to too much loss of my money and too long for the car to finish i could not sit and wait longer (i think 1 1/2 year waiting is enough).

As far as me standing up for shops with bad reps? I do defend SBR. They do not sponsor me in any way (so we are clear on this) But I have spent over 5K with them buying parts for my rebuild. I have spent many conversations on the phone with the owner and various staff who have always been helpful, answered my dumb questions and never once blew me off. I dont back any one shop in particular and I do not bad mouth any vendors either (and yes there are some I will not deal with who are big name vendors and I have spent at least 1-2k with them). Look up my back posts and research before you make comments like that please.
Ttoppouzi,
There are several versions of the 4g63 motor. The "6-bolt" version (named for a crankshaft that had 6 bolts holding on the flywheel) was a motor used from 1898-1992 in the Talon/Eclipse/Laser DSM cars, and in the Galant VR-4 (1991/1992). After that the motors were built with 7 bolt cranks (93+ DSMs, all the way through the later versions). Evo motors are 7 bolt motors.
The 7 bolt crankshafts required connecting rods that have different dimensions, as shown in the attached diagram. Your rods can be machined to be thinner at the big end, but you'd still have to have pistons that had the correct pin size at the small end.
I expect that your rods COULD work, with the right parts. Manley rods are high quality, but historically Slowboy has not had a respected reputation for making sure people got the parts they ordered. This is a prime example of that problem. If you ordered rods and told them they were for an Evo, there is NO way that you should ever have been sent 6 bolt rodsw. 6 bolt motors were NEVER put in an Evo. Anyone with basic 4g63 experience would know that.
This is why one should NEVER buy parts from a retailer who has a reputation for poor customer service. The little you may save costs you big dollars when they send you a part that was their mistake, and then blame you for it.

not to keep beating this to death.....but he did not buy the parts from SBR. He bought them from another person who bought the rods from SBR and allegedly was sold the wrong parts.
Lets keep the facts straight.

Just like I posted above, the 6 bolt rods are .100 thicker than the 7 bolt Evo rods, and have a smaller small end pin bushing diameter. It sounds like the engine builder honed out the small end to the correct pin diameter, only to find that the rod was too thick to install on the big end.
This is a Slowboy screwup from the git go. The only thing that the buyer did "wrong" was to try to make the incorrect part fit his already properly identified application, because he was overseas and had waited a long time...
