How often do you have to drain the cans? THanks.
This really is going to be situational for every motor/build setup. There really is no set time to drain/check the oil buildup.

Depending on your driving style, develop a consistent draining/checking of the oil level in the cans and keep up with it.

As more time goes by, I will have more solid information on the daily driven car that is hardly ever in boost as in how often to drain the breather can.

heh.. chemical engineers ftw!

you think fuel+oil burns just like plain old fuel?

um, no, as I never said that it does. Like the text says, "has SHOWN no effect on octane". But can you show me any data which shows that whatever amount of oil that is put into the intake manifold, then mixes with fuel has any noticable effect on octane? If it did, then why did the Mitsubishi engineers deisgn it this way?

I am not saying that a can on the pcv valve is a bad idea. I am just saying that it is not worth the hassle (for me) to have to drain that can frequently, which will involve removing the can for draining. Unless you have extra long, large lines running across the engine bay. And I dont want either of those...

why did they design the valve cover to intake line that you 'fixed'?

if the PCV system works the way it's supposed to, the valve shouldn't leak any blow-by under boost at WOT into the manifold anyway, only under vacuum, so i'd say the single can will help out alot.

Yea but it's fun to empty it and see all the crap that gets trapped. Oil vapors can also cause knock I'm told

Of course they didnt put a catch can in from the factory as not everybody is going to want to have to empty a catch can every now and then. I think thats self explanatory....

I checked the can today, and no oil buildup as of yet. This is with driving off bosst for the majority of the time with the occasional quick pull to 22lbs here and there..

Imo get two cans for both intake and pcv side.

The pcv side collects the most about a ounce or two and the intake side less than a tea spoon every 3k.

Ever taken apart a 4g63 head/intake after 60k without a catch can.
Its not pretty inside, thick gummy oil residue on the throttle body, intake, and valves. It also can contribute to excessive carbon build-up.

The single can I beliebe is about 90.00 with shipping and the hardware pack....

Considering that these cans are functional, its a steal at that price..
