Once again an example of the asssuption that evo owners have more money than wrench skills and will over pay for things.

Take off another two bolts to get the caliper off, then use a big C-clamp to open them up. Only diff I noticed doing this to the Brembo's was a need for a soft cloth so I didn't scratch up the caliper paint job. Use the old pad too so the C-clamp pushes both pistons.

But I'm intrigued enough to try to find a used one of these!

Lisle's is not quite comparable. For the Lisle, you should remove the caliper from the vehicle, as typical in commodity disc brake setups. That thing is not really a lot better than a c-clamp. For that thing to work, the rotor has to be out of its way or else it can't get to the piston to do its clamping.

I saw one on E-bay that is the comparable design to the Giro version that does not require anything to be removed. It's not got the scissoring leverage/torque to open them, it's got a screw design. And I've asked the 'ebay merchant' if they think it'll fit brembo calipers. I'm pretty sure it will. For $30-40 range, I think I'll buy it no matter what response I get.

That seems like a whole lotta work just to swap pads.

^ LOL. Yeah, well, its two bolts less work per side than non-performance brakes that have the caliper brackets too that you have to remove to get a rotor off. So to me, two bolts, plus "normal" clamping (with cap opened) of the pistons, it's awkward but takes no time. The spreader will take a bit less time, but I don't have to screw around with the torquing of those two bolts. And the brake lines clamp too needs to be removed. I'll say "yeah" to three less bolts.

BTW, at ebay, just search for brake spreader. caliper isn't in the keywords.
