Helix cams

I have had a set of Helix V2 272 cams & adj gears waiting to be installed for several months now. After reading a few posts (mainly by TTP) that cam gear bolt holes arent drilled and tapped to the correct size, a few friends and I installed them.

Cam gear bolt holes- fit perfectly.
Quality- outstanding.
Fitment- cams - perfect. Cam gear cover needed to be have the ribs inside the cover removed to clear the pulleys.
Cam gear settings- -4/-1

Brandon aka Bnice road tuned the car and it pulls really well. I wish I would have added the cams sooner! Man this thing sounds sick now!!!!!!!!!!!!!

glad you loving the new tune man, not bad for a LICP trade huh LOL

-4/-1 I was really surprise with the mid-range, i though it would be weaker. pulls really great esp. after 4500 to redline.

We have not stated Helix cams "bolt holes arent drilled and tapped to the correct size".

This was stated about compcams.

Helix cams however bolt holes have BROKEN so that the cam angle sensor trigger spins freely (doesn't turn with the cam as it is supposed to) redering the car useless.

This has happened to an Evo at H & H Performance in Fayetteville, NC.

Actually you did in that huge thread about cams. I even asked you if you would check what the correct thread size was so I could check my Helix cams.

Any rate, no problems since the install.

Feel free to quote the post, otherwise you are mistaken.

Compcams are what we have had a problem with.

Helix have had problems elsewhere, not in the thread size and pitch.

Needless to say I swapped in my OWN personal GSC 280 280's from my shopcar MR so he would have a nice set of performance cams. Otherwise he would have wasted a 2 hour trip for an install that could not have been completed.

Now that you mentioned it. Customer named Patrick's car had that issue. I figure a lot of these cams must be manufactured overseas in Turkey or something to share the same issues.

It was the best way to service the customer that I could come up with. He ended up liking the 280's anyhow and it all worked out great. It's not the first time we have taken parts off our own cars to save a customer and won't be the last.
