Vi-Pec Engine Management review
Good to see more people are using Vi-Pec. I picked up their plug-in ECU for my 4G64 MIVEC project. My experiences with Ray/Vi-pec so far have been very good. He's very responsive with any tech questions. I've talked with a few very reputable tuners (including Apex Speed Technology) who have good things to say about Vi-PEC.
Keep us updated on the future results!

I'm using the Vi-Pec V44 PnP in my Evo 6.5 TME too ...
Its pretty amazing how it starts right up in the morning without any hickup ....
Even with fresh built 2.0L motor with 1050cc F.I.C injectors ... Its starts up with the first try ...
The Brain Itself "Vi-PEC Stand Alone ECu"

My New Engine Bay

My New Engine Bay 1

My New Engine Bay 2

I've have to say i'm 1 satisfied customer using its v44 pnp ...
Oh yeah ... The rpm needle will swing up to 7k & down just like the defi's when i starts the car ...

Good writeup David. I believe you and your brother will like even more when you get more used to the software. Set AFR correction = ON and the put in the desired AFR in the AFR table. Then when you have tuned the car to these afr`s, and if you for some reaseon want to change the afr, you just change the AFR value in the AFR table, and it automatically corrects it without any tuning on the dyno. When afr correction set to ON, the fuel table will also be flater.
Good to see you USA boys are liking New Zealand technology
The Vipec is just a rebranded Link ecu, because apparently Link is disliked in Australia.
I'll be tuning my car with a Link G4 Storm, it has some amazing features.
My tuner states that these are as good and simple to tune as Motecs, at a fraction of the price.
Do you know what causes the AFR to be wavey?
Dave, if you have any questions about the Ecu, i'm sure i could give you my tuners email and he could point you in the right direction.
Cheers, Mike

Dangit, I have been dying to get my hands on a Link G4 ECU to try out. I was a touch nervous because of the limited (Seemingly) US experience, but I think I am going to try and do it anyhow. All the things I have read on their website make it seem like its a pretty killer ECU.
Knowing this is a rebrand of the Link, I might jump on one of these ViPec's right away now...
I believe from talking with Ray the Vi-PEC is not a rebranded Link. That is not the understanding I have. I asked Ray for the background on how the company started. This is not word for word and as factual as I can remember the e-mail. I am not at the shop and have his e-mail on my laptop there but:
Ray Hall worked for Autronic for 12+ years as their main worldwide distributor. He asked Autronic to make changes to the system/software and was met with resistance. He grew tired of the resistance and quit. He was then contacted by Link to meet with them. He agreed to work with Link and he told them what he wanted in an ECU and Link built the Vi-PEC as Ray's own product for him.
I will be a dealer for Vi-PEC very shortly. It's is against their policy to post any pricing publically so anyone interested will have to send me an e-mail or PM.
I have a few questions in for clarification on options and how some of them integrate right now then I will be able to put together some packages.
I worked on Daniel's car again today. Figured out the launch control, works perfectly. There wasn't much else to do, Daniel's happy as hell with the car.
I want to try more ECU's but this is working out awfully well. The test I need to do is put it on a high power EVO and make sure it continues to work this perfectly. If that happens I think I may have found what we will use and recommend.

spin2gst, they are working on a throttle hang fix now, check out the ECUflash section, I was just briefly reading about it last night
warp9, I am still most comfortable tuning the AEM. I've got thousands of hours in using it so it makes it very easy for me now. If and when the release a Gen2 box that works for the EVO with all the fixes I have asked them for, I may have to run it again. It definetely has some great features and much of it is easier to use than the rest, atleast for me.
lillev23, I use to say I was stupid..........the last few months I've realized I may not be as dumb as I thought I was
I picked up the Vi-PEC faster than any of the other ECU's I've used so far. I feel pretty comfortable with it already. So to me it seems pretty user friendly. The best thing I can say about it is the base settings are extremely close, I've not had to mess with coil dwell, cold start tables, accel fuel tables and such, they did a great freaking job getting them right. From there if you set up your fuel table correctly and injectors everything else follows in line. So for the most part, fuel table and timing tables are all that have needed to be adjusted. Many problems I've seen with other ECU's is all the other tables are so far off to begin with the more you add to the build and the larger the injectors get the worse the rest of the tables work.
Dealers of the Vi-PEC are required to supply tech support for the product. We will supply a base map with them so all the features work as soon as you plug it in, I've had to fix just a few things.

I was sent information for the new datalogger release from Ray yesterday. Very happy with the logging now and the graph viewer, very similar to the AEM EMS so it's easy to use.
I've ordered more units. My car will be going back together soon and the test is going to be how well it works on a high powered/high rpm build.
Dealer account is set up. For those of you looking for a stand alone at our shop this is probably going to be what we suggest in the future. Until it's on my own car making over 700 whp and I'm happy with it I won't commit to that for sure.
It was 29 degrees this morning, Daniel once again reported complete happiness with how the car started and how it drove.
