My Experience with SPEC Clutch

Unfortunately this is the way most companies would handle the situation in this industry. They pay for the failed part or replace it, but as far as labor and other things that were damaged you are on your own. Is it fair? No. But you should just know that going into it, and that is part of the risk of modifying your car.
If you broke a cosworth cam, they send you a new cam. Not a cam + a check for the labor involved. Unfortunately that's just the way it works. And from their perspective I don't blame them. They don't know who did the install, if it was done properly, with the right tools, right torque specs etc.
I think you made the right choice with the Exedy. Tried and true.

We had similar problems with SPEC with RyuEvoIX's car as it would not shift well with the Supertwin. Before it failed we had it removed and reverted back to EXEDY Triple.
We had considered working with them, but decided since they use Quartermaster hydraulic release bearings, we would be better off working with the ones making the HRB. No complaints on the Quartermaster thus far we are using in our own car.

I wasn't interested in getting my money back on labor.. I just wanted them to pay for one of the two input shafts their product ruined. But really the point of this thread is only to make the community aware of my experience with Spec.

Sorry to hear it. I had a much cheaper organic style SPEC clutch come apart on me after about 3000 miles in my Eclipse. That'll teach me for trying to give some local guys business. I'll never buy or recommend them to any one.

This is one of the better reviews I have seen on this board
(good or bad), where poo is not being flung every where.
Lots of facts stated by respected vendors as well, pics, etc.
Where the the hell is SPEC at?
Have ANY of these clutches worked for ANYBODY? If not, there surely has to be something that can be done.
Kudos to all you guys for having a level head, I would have lost it.

Thank you to the OP for the well put together review. I appreciate that everyone is staying level headed.
I can tell you that i also recently installed the P-Trim clutch. I am only 100 miles into break in. I have contacted Spec to have them chime in. I will not be driving my car until this gets sorted out.
To me it looks like a defect with the disc. Antilag (warren) has the same version as me with no issues. Just to note, the P-Trim has 1 sprung disc and 1 solid disc (the solid disc is the same as the SS-Trim). I personally have no noise issues or any issues but i am only at 100 miles. I will report back if i hear anything.
