Sparktech non-cdi c.o.p. review

Sparktech non-cdi c.o.p. review
When I decided to look into c.o.p. set up's it came down to Sparktech and Spoolinup. To my knowledge these units have yet to be tested on a car back to back. Both claim similar gains and have similar specs.
I decided to go with the Sparktech unit because of availability. I wanted a set up that I could run under the spark plug cover. Which factored Spoolinup out completely since he hasn't started stocking coils that will fit yet.
I PM'd Craig during the Christmas/New Year's sale and decided to take advantage of the price and pick one up.
I've had it on the car for two weeks now and I think it's long enough to state some things I've noticed.
My car is still on the original set of spark plus with the stock gapping (27,000 miles) and is currently stock block/head/turbo with bolt-on's tuned by Sean Ivey. The car is making 352whp/340wtq on a dynojet.
Installation was relatively simple. It took me longer to yank the oem coils out of the valve cover than it did to install the Sparktech unit. Fit and finish is excellent. Only thing I'll point out is that there is a lot of extra slack on each harness connection. I verified the reasoning with Craig @ Sparktech. He stated that there is a lot of slack for two reasons: to keep the connectors away from the coils and because of the rigidity of the wire coating. In order to make sure spark plug covers fit the connectors are better served away from the c.o.p. unit.
Things I've noticed thus far:
Those three things along are enough to justify this purchase to me. This modification is definitely not cheap but it helps with drive-ability. I think it's safe to say all Evo owners can admit their drive-ability can improve. All in all, I am more than satisfied with what this unit provides. It's not a night and day difference but it's enough is the three areas above to make me a believer. Once I get my car retuned I will report back with any hp/tq improvements.
I'll edit this post with pictures when it warms up a bit.

good review, I am still actually contemplating on this mod after reading lots of benefits of a non cdi cop unit. It is just hard on the pocket especially if I get the
sparktech uniit. Hopefully Sparktech will lower their prices which I think is not gonna happen.

chaotichoax - We were in the same boat. I was waitin for matt.. but.. I needed the ignition system done asap.. So after 2 months of waiting.. i bought Sparktechs.
Works great. Zero spark issuses at 25 psi on the stroker. It even managed to ignite a 9.5 AFR when my fuel tables got screwed up during a pull.

I noticed a HUGE increase in MPG. Almost 6 more depending on how I drove. This was at 388whp on a BBK Full.
It's almost a mod that will pay for itself. Every day driving was much easier. Car felt a lot cleaner through the power band.
I just want to say, so when other people read this, they can know. Everything that the OP stated is true. I have the same kit and I couldn't agree more.

I became a little skeptical when you said that deceleration was improved by this unit. Can you expand on that?
If this unit increased gas mileage substantially, I would buy it for sure.

when I downshift I rev-match which is why i say the responsiveness is noticeable when downshifting...once my foot is off the gas the car just seems to decelerate smoother
maybe another member with the unit could attest to this or explain it better?
