Lower IC piping= More Lag?

I'm thinking about installing the AMS Lower IC piping, I know I'll gain 5-10 whp but will it produce more lag? if so how much?

I have it, and no additional lag noted.

AMS quotes 2-3whp, certainly not 10. A larger IC itself will give you a bit more lag, but the lower pipe will not.

Just installed the AMS lower pipe recently(along with their FMIC).

My car hits boost the same as stock.
I was waiting for and expecting the lag, but it didn't happen.

It is a nice peice. I wish it had at least one support bracket. Stock pipe has two. Just looking at the stock and the AMS pipes, it is hard to see how you would gain much hp.

If you see how bad the lower stock pipe necks down in diameter with alot of curves youll see how flow is restricted..

My buschur fmic and lower pipe made no more lag but added some boost, plus the benefit of really cool air.

I like my AMS FMIC and lower pipe. A slight front end collision that damaged the OEM IC necessitated its (IC) purchase. I just got the lower pipe for fun. On the dyno, though, it didn't make any gains to the power curve. You can see that it takes just a couple hundred rpm longer to charge and make full torque, but other than that, that's it.

I think it is a good mod to lay groundwork for greater power upgrades in the future, as well as the fact that it looks pretty trick. But on a 16G, my dyno results haven't seen any concrete gains.

On my car, the thing that made the most power was the XEDE, followed by the cam gears (awesome mod, especially for those folks who still have stock cams), then the dump-back, then the titanium turbo (or hotside), followed very closely by the cams. The manifold helped make some very nice midrange torque, especially on race gas, but not too much-if any up top.
