HELP: Boost leak symptom, but no leak found...limp mode?

...ok well...i was driving to my g/fs house...went to pass someone who was going 50 in a 55..downshift into 4th and go...hit 23psi and hold steady at 20-21 until i shift to fifth (running XEDE with turboback exhaust and stage0 map)...as soon as a shift to fifth and get back on the gas, the car hits a brick wall...the car wouldnt boost past 5psi on part throttle and would creep up to 10psi at WOT (which i only did once...too scared to do it again)...ive had this happen before, and it was from the hose popping off the stock DV...so i think, ok no big deal...that hose just popped off again...get to her house, pop the hood...no dice...all hoses appear to be fine...so i just figure i overboosted and disconnected the ECU while i was at her place to reset...

about 3 hours later...come back out, hook it up and leave for home...car is still doing it...so im like hmm ok i guess its a hose that popped off that cant be seen easily...

well it was 10pm and i wanted to watch the sox/yankees game when i got home so i decided to wait until the next day (today)...i get up at 8am to see if i can figure this out...go out to my car...take the airbox off to check the IC hoses...everything seems fine...get under the car and look at the IC hoses...seems fine...check all vacuum lines to the manifold...seems fine...check wastegate hose and compressor housing hose...fine...even unplug XEDE and try driving again...nothing...so i decide to drive up the driveway of the church next to my apartment...to get load on the motor and see what the boost does...climbs to 2psi just fine...then start to bog and studder at anything above 2psi...car can climb to 10psi or so and it studders very badly...so im thinking its defnately a popped hose...but i cant seem to find anything

i also installed a walbro 255 on sat and the drive to my g/f's house was the first time i had driven WOT with the walbro...i dont think its a bad pump...b/c the car runs perfect at all times except under boost...so im stumped right now...

any ideas?? im hoping the turbo didnt blow, but the car only has 2500 miles...car is on the stock airbox, stock DV....stock everything except exhaust and XEDE...just ran the car at the drag strip on thursday and it did fine...that was without the Walbro though...but i would think if i flooded the plugs or the pump was faulty, that the car wouldnt idle like stock...i have no stalling problems or idle problems..

im also wondering why my boost is so high with XEDE...i guess i will have to adjust the map a bit when i get it running right again...

Check to see if the XEDE is working. Sometimes the XEDE have a power on problem and can not load the maps. If the XEDE does not power on properly it will not boost past 11psi or so.

green light means the XEDE is working
flashing orange means no map is loaded
red means there is a fualt with the XEDE
no light means no power.

Sounds like a power on fix is needed

hmmm after reading a bit...could this possibly be my knock sensor wire?? would these be symptoms of that?? usually when a hose pops off, you hear a loud pop...which i didnt hear...and there doesnt appear to be a boost hose that has come loose or popped off...so what else could it be? i was 100% sure it was a popped off hose, but now i just have no clue

You said you drove around without the XEDE connected right? Did you remember to connect the boost control wire back into the ECU harness when you did this? If you did connect the boost wire back and the car would still not boost I would check all your boost hoses and vacuum lines and see if any have come loose.

If that doesnt fix the problem, have your BOV checked and see if it can hold boost.

yes, i hooked the stock boost wire back up when i disconnected the XEDE...i also pulled my stock DV out and did a pressure test with my hand (that i learned when i had my 1.8t) and it seemed normal...

im still guessing its a hose or line somewhere that has come disconnected that i just havent spotted yet...at least im hoping thats what it is...but im at work now so im trying to read up and figure out if there are any other possibilities i can look for after i get off

So this did not start till after the fuel pump install?

hmmmm, what model Walbro Fuel pump did you get? You need the GSS-342 part number which is the high pressure verson. Maybe you bought the wrong one and are hitting some kind of fuel cut.

that could be...i bought the walbro 255 from www.extremepsi.com...i ordered the Evo pump kit...so unless they just sent me the wrong pump, i have no idea...they advertise it as the GSS342...i didnt check the pump before i installed it

only thing is, it worked fine through 1-4 gears..then 5th and it went dead...i guess ill have to swap back to my stock pump and see if that remedies it...

i just went out and really tried to open the car up and see what it would do...when it reached 10psi the exhaust was popping...im assuming b/c of a rich condition that i would attribute to lots of fuel and no boost...i really dont know...

and yes im running w/o the restrictor pill

and if it is fuel/boost cut...is there an easy way for me to reset this?? At least if i can reset it, even it if comes back i will be able to narrow that down...and wont have to tear my car apart trying to find a loose hose or something

All I can tell you right now is to try your stock pump and see how it acts. When you take the Walbro pump out, check and make sure you installed it correctly.

Read this thread:
https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...walbro+problem

They talk about an O-ring not being installed properly which causes low fuel pressure.
