Vishnu Exhaust Question
I just installed the Stage Zero Cat Back exhaust on my 2004 EVO RS and it sounds great, but in all honesty it feels (according to the butt dyno) to not have as much punch as it did with the stock exhaust. I was wondering if anyone with the same mod had the same experience. I'll be installing the XEDE this weekend and I'm hoping that it will make a big difference.
Is it possible that the exhaust simply smoothed out the exhaust flow enough to allow the spool up of the turbo to be earlier and more gradual and in this way reducing the "boost" feeling?
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Tony

The Xede will make a difference....where are you located?
If you are close and interested we can see exactly how much by installing the xede while the car is on the dyno....let me know

Unfortunately I'm in San Antonio. I'm going to call David @Vishnu on Saturday afternoon and see if he can talk me through the XEDE install. Then, I am thinking of driving up to Austin to MZM Performance to see if they can tune it on their dyno. They don't have any prior experience with the XEDE unit, but they told me that the software should be pretty easy to figure out. I hope so......
Thanks for the offer though, I really would have liked to do this with someone that knows more about the XEDE.

a word of caution .... don't let them "custom tune" your XEDE. If they want to upload an appropriate map from the Vishnu website, by all means let them ... but no playing with the settings. If I was you, I'd download the XMAP instructions and read them, maybe even install the software on your computer to get familiar with it. That way you will at least have some idea of what to expect when you finally install the XEDE and hook into it.

Yeah, your playing with fire by letting someone beside Shiv tune your Xede. I think will be one more person in the near future tuning w/ the Xede, but until then I would just download an appropriate map from Vishnu's web site.

Ok,
Now you guys are scaring me! Anyway, I'll get the XEDE hooked up this weekend and uploade the Stage Zero 93 Octane map from the website. I already have the software on my laptop but don't really know what to do with it.
Now, I'm really looking forward to installing this but if I have to wait to get it custom tuned by Shiv (who knows when he'll be back in Texas....) then that's not really an ideal situation is it?
Either that, or maybe they might want to "certify" some shops in South Texas if they're planning on selling these things so that people can get the tuning support that they'll need in the future.
Let's hope it works well out of the box.

yeah, if you're following the Vishnu upgrade path (read: Vishnu parts), then the maps off the website will be very close to a custom tune. If you start to throw in the odd part or two (aftermarket BOV, intake, injectors), then you might wanna think about getting a custom tune.
After you get your map loaded, I'd put the car onto a dyno just to make sure your AFR is where it should be (should be a non-issue, but for me seeing is believing) - also doesn't hurt to see how much power your making
