More EVO MR dyno results

100% stock. With and without XEDE (91oct Subzero map). Got rid off the nasty midrange dip that seems to be afflicting all '05s that we've tested. Peak boost of 21psi, tapering to 17psi by redline.

Cheers,
shiv

Why does the torque drop off so much on that '05? Exhaust restriction since it's still stock?

ah, you changed the scale on us... It does still seem to drop off more high up than the '03 Evo's doesn't it?

Something's just not right with the '05's. Have you guys pinned it down yet? Besides the revised turbine housing there MUST be something else. I wonder if there is a slight cam revision as well. Oh! Maybe it's just the MR Edition stickers! Gota get me some of those. Seriously though...what the hell is it?

The tq drop off may just be a visual effect that results from the increase of TQ from the boost taper of 21 to 16 psi vs the 19 to 16 psi of the 03-04 models.

yep

03-04s never made close to 260lb-ft of torque before!

Hey shiv,

Is that using version 3 firmware?

Is there a pill that needed to be removed for the 05's? Is the revised boost control similar to 03's?

Can't wait to see your Stage 1 and Stage 1+ MR results. Is it just me or is the stock MR has higher torqued than the 03-04 stage 1 cars

Still v2 Lachlan and I have been v3 testing all week. Drove a v3 equipped car all the way to Las Vegas and back (1100 miles). Still having one tiny problem that we've been working on fixing. It's very annoying releasing 5 new features to only have the simplest little one not work right!

Getting there... hang tight.

And yep, the pill on the MR (and 05) still gets removed.

They also have a larger compressor housing. The cams are the same.

Not to hijack, but Shiv I'm curious what your take on the Bilstein suspension is? I know it's either off the car or getting pulled, but how was it?

It's really quite nice. It's not a huge departure from the standard suspension. But it certainly is a bit more comfortable (less choppy) and doesn't seem to give up anything as far as handling/balance goes.

Off topic maybe, but do I need to remove any pils when installing the XEDE on my STi?

You mean they have a larger exhaust housing right?
