that is a great how to article, thanks guys. My question is this....you don't have to remove all the other crap just to change the gears do you? all i really need to do is get the to TDC and keep tension on the belt while i change them over...right? i won't need to remove any seals of the CAS will i?

That's right, you only need to accomplish the steps relating to the gears, not the cams.....

I ordered my tool from SPXMiller.com yesterday. It was $8.?? + tax and shipping. I don't know why they charge tax when I'm in another state, but there it is. They comitted to shipping it out within 48 hours and I expect to see it next week, it's coming from MN.

You might want to give them a call. The guy I talked to knew exactly what I was looking for before I completed the part number, and he was really cool. He then went on to explain that in the old days when everyone was ordering this for their Eclipse they needed two tools, but us Evo guys only need the one. Make sure they didn't assume wrong and quote you for two parts. I made sure it was UPS ground so I don't imagine they'll charge more than a few bucks shipping....$34 is outrageous.

Gotta question on the "how to" article. If i use the tension tool, where is more of the tension released from? the top, or the bottom? i just don't wanna much it up and skip a tooth on the balancer where i can't see it.
