Stage 1+ XEDE tuning in SE Michigan

VISHNU or someone from Michigan.

I already have the stage 1 set-up and I have cams and a fuel pump on the way (Stage 1+). I really don't want to put this stuff in until I can get a Dyno date for a proper tuning. I am aware of a couple places around here that have AWD dynos and even one that has had experience with an XEDE. I was just hoping to get some input from Vishnu or other EVO owners on a reputable shop.

Matt Gold. I think you had yours tuned at Payn. Any comments on your experience there?

Or even better, is the Vishnu crew coming out to Michigan anytime soon?

Groovytang,
I am in Beverly Hills. 14 mile and Woodward basically. All growed-up and stuff with a job, wife and kids.

Anyway back to the original post here. Anyone have any shop experiences in the area that they would like to share??

I can second that all "growed-up and stuff" But driving the Evo makes me feel like a kid again...

I have never been to any shops here in MI. Made a couple of trips down to Buschur instead, so I can't speak from experience but the two shops I know of in Detroit with AWD dynos are

Godspeed Motorsports http://www.godspeedinc.com/
Adress: 22783 Heslip Novi, MI 48375
Phone: (248) 305-8140

&

Payn Technologies http://www.payntechnologies.com/
Address: 1668 Thorncroft, Troy, MI 48084
Phone: 248-649-3966

Let me know if you schedule something I wouldn't mind tagging along...

I am a small race prep and fab shop in Detroit proper. I make a bunch of parts and use Dan @ Godspeed for my AWD tuning. Give him a call, he's a good guy.

Thanks guys. I have been to the Payn shop. Seems ok. I was hoping to get some more feedback here. I have heard of Godspeed so I'll have to make a run out to Novi. Apparently there is an open house next saturday (11/20) at a company called Wheel-to-Wheel. They are offering dyno runs for $40 to celebrate the install of their new AWD dyno. In case you wanted to see what your car is doing today.

atc1174 - I'll let you know more about the wheel-to-wheel deal as I get more info.

The guys at Wheel are great. They are customers of mine at my day job. The new facility is incredible. Even if you just stop by, take a look. This is how a prototype shop should be built! They are trying to get into more of the sport compact end of things, they do a bunch of engines for the twin-turbo big-block guys.

If you want too call me, feel free

shop # 313-895-9353 nights and weekends

You do not need custom tuning if you have not strayed too far from the straight 1+ setup. There are free 91, 93, 100, and even 117octane maps available from Vishnu and Vishnu customers like me. You won't be disappointed with the free off the shelf maps.

Yep, no need to custom tune ... especially if the shop has never tuned an XEDE. The "off-the-shelf" maps are pretty close. I'd definitely still dyno the car, though, just to make sure you are getting the results that you should and to make sure your AFR is reasonable.

Thanks again everyone.

Darin,
Sounds good. You going to be there next weekend as they break in the new dyno?

KZEVO,
Have you had your evo tuned with an XEDE at Payn?

Smog/Lud,
So these cars have been fairly consistent then? And the MAPS are conservative enough that it shouldn't make a huge difference car to car? I was just a little worried that the cars might be different enough to cause problems.

Actually you could drive to AMS in Chicago. Martin know how to tune an XEDE... but, as I said, the base maps are pretty darn good.

Good thing I checked this forums when I did.

I am leaving in about an hour for Payn to have my XEDE tuned.

Tom tuned my UTEC for me and we had DAMN good results (283/275 on 93). Prior to that I had a DynoFlash and S-AFC II, when I brought it there it was making 250/240 when it left (on 100Octane) it was making 287/280.

I added some mods since the UTEC, and I am hoping for a solid 300/300.

Now these number sound low, but keep in mind at the LOWEST HP output, I ran 12.2@110. Mustang AWD numbers have a way of humbling expectations.

I will update you later today or tomorrow with my experience with the XEDE.
