Best stage upgrade for auto x?

Want to do one major stage install. Car will be daily driver w/ autox use. Was looking at Stage 1+. Now I'm seeing references to stage 2, 3, etc. with no references on Vishnu website.

Where to start?

prob going to be more up to you man, how much power do you need for your local autox track? I know firsthand the stage two ++ is a monster after rideing in a friends. The stage 1++ (my dad bought) is more than enough power from what he tells me.

A maximized stock turbo configuration seems to me to be the best setup for autox. The stage 1++ would rock. But, as you know, for autox, suspension is vital and there are a million rules about what you can and cannot do to your car.

I'm OK if I get bumped into the prepared class because of mods. I plan to address the suspension as I learn the limits of the car. Moving from a rear engine, rear drive car to an EVO is like learning another language.

More power is a little easier to do. Big HP in an EVO usually means less torque down low. It also means lag. I'm OK w/ a little lag as long as I can keep it on boost by throttle modulation. I agree with you on the stock turbo setup.

Also need more power to take care of the odd jackass in the SS Camaro on occasion

That's a tough call IMO. The stock turbo with a 10.5 housing and titanium internals would probably be your best bet, but if you really want to lay the smack down on the occasional SS, then a GT30xx turbo is probably better. Personally I've decided to wait and to bite the bullet next spring and go for a GT35R monster Evo ... that way I don't need to launch hard off the line, but I can still catch just about anything short of the space shuttle
