got question for Shiv

Hi Shiv,

Sorry for the newbie question but lets say I have a few bolt ons on my car like exhaust ,dp, cams and intake. Can I just send my ECU to you and tell you what bolt ons I have and then you can modify it or use the Xede and return it to me? Will it work this way or would it still be better to have my car tuned at a dyno for optimum performance. Does the Xede come with a software so that maybe one day I can have a tuner in my country tune it again for me depending on what other mods I do to the car? I do like standalone units but the tuners in Taiwan are a bit clueless and besides that those stand alones are not cheap.

Thanks

Hi if you are getting a reflash or xede thats how its done, we strongly advise to use our mod path formula of some sort for best results

Will the piggy back system fit in the same location as the stock ECU or would I have to put it in the glove box instead? So when I get the Xede from you all I do is just plug it in with the required cables and thats it? Is it that easy or do I need to adjust some other stuff as well?

I would agree with the above statement except .... derek said Taiwan tuners don't know anything about tuning so it would be a waste of money. With the Exede he can upgrade maps easily and safely when mods are added.

How difficult is it to upgrade maps? What are the things needed to upgrade it if I do decide to do it in the future? Do I just download it on a pc and then transfer it to the Xede?

That's kinda of bold don't come into the Vishnu forum and state that without some data to back it up. One liners don't cut it. Do you have empirical data as to the pros and cons compared to the Xede?

You may impress some, but you don't impress me. Now run along little boy and go play with Ken&Barbi and get schooled.

The Xede sits right next the the stock ECU behind the glove box. You just plug it in. No cutting or tapping into wires. If you want the Xede to control boost you relocated 1 wire from the ECU harness and replace it with one from the Xede harness. The install is relatively easy.

Here's where many have their Xedes located.

How does the Xede control boost compared to if I have a manual or electronic boost controller? You mean you can program the Xede to control your boost level by connecting it through your laptop in which you wouldnt need a additional boost controller? Im confused as to how these things work. Thanks

F-Con V Pro is standalone. Many good F Con V Pro tuners in Taiwan.Like:HKS Taiwan,Gua Zhong and many other.Or you can ask the editor in any taiwan car tuning magazine like:Spec-R.GTR,Option taiwan and other.

Have alot of experience with standalones? Do they have any quirks or drivability probs? Its fine to have an opinion but opinions should be based on past experiences (on a car help forum) or your just cheering from the sidelines. As for those editors and tuners in Japan why wouldnt they like a local product that is marketed, supported, and pays for the advertising spots in those same magazines? Wait sounds totally reversed here in the States here doesnt it?

I appreciate your opinion but I think its better to pm me instead of bad mouthing Vishnu on this forum because not everyone would want a stand alone unit.

The Xede controls boost either by absolute and intercept modes. An additional boost controller will not be neccessary. Vishnu maps are set up for absolute control and a majority if not everyone running an Xede on their Evo is running absolute boost control. In absolute mode you simply input your desired wastegate duty cycles as a function of load and RPM.

In intercept mode you input offsets to the stock ECU wastegate duty cycles.

Both functions are accessed via a laptop through XMAP.

The advantage the Xede has over many EVC's and MBC's alike is that you have RPM/Load dependant boost control. EVC/MBC typically are only capable of sustaining one boost level. While it may be impressive to say you can hold 20psi of boost to redline with an MBC. The beauty of the Xede is that you have built in scramble boost functionality. So instead of just holding straight 20psi to redline line you also have the ability to safely overboost in the lower RPMs to say 24psi for increased power/torque and safely level boost psi to lower levels at higher RPMs.

thanks for the info. I guess going with the Xede you can save some money.
