Anyone running 264/264?

I was thinking of just running 264/264 cams to have a smog friendly car here in SOCAL. Has anyone done this and are there any maps for 262/264 cams?
If you have been dynoed please post graph.

Thanks,
Snoop

Don't do it Snoop, IMHO it's not worth the bother or the money. My car had the cams and cam gears as well as the big injectors, fuel pump and Xflash. Before I traded it it made 236 whp in Andrews dyno. That's prolly 20 whp more than stock. look at the $$$ vs. gains and you'll see that you pay around $50-$60 per hp or more...... No only that but when it's time to trade, you'll not be able to get that **** off your car and it's all down the drain..... I think the FIMC and exhaust are much easier to install and remove and will give you quite a bit of power....... Just up the boost and run a race map

I've got 264/264 w/ gears, and during the Chicago dyno day, I made anywhere from 30-40 HP than those without cams and/or gears. I do have an upgraded frontmount, but you won't see much, if any, gains on the dyno.

I think they're worth it. They make more torque down low, and holds power all the way to 7500 rpm. What's there not to like?

I would definately get cams and gears...it's not even a question! You'll see at least as much of a transformation adding these parts to your car as a reflash, probably more even.

I'd do the intercooler after the cams & gears, the stock one is fine for most who run the stock turbo. Good luck!

Manuel, I will have to disagree it is worth it.....your car made 300 whp when the xede was installed....you need the supporting mods (that snoop has) to extract the benefit from the cams....
Snoops car presently on our dyno = 262 whp
With cams installed+ custom tune = 295 whp this of course is all on 93 oct

IMO I have yet to see any gains because of an intercooler with the Vishnu set up
and the injectors at stage 1+ level are completely pointless

Can you post a dyno sheet? I want to compare 264/272 to 264/264.

You might be right about the IC and exhaust..... I'm just expressing my disapointment with the overall benefit vs cost of the cams and cam gears.... Of course, almost my entire experience with modifying my EVO 8 was disappointing. Granted, the cams do increase power, but I didn't like the end result in my case....... As for the injectors, well..... That's another one of Georges' great busted solutions

Go 264/272, I am loving it. If you plan on NOT keeping your car, then dont do it. But if you intend to keep this car, and make more power, then go for it. I am sure that you did not just by the EVO for looks. It is safe, reliable, and the best hp/dollar spent. Put it this way, when you do "tend" to sell it, I am sure there is another evo-enthusiast that would love the cams that are installed. I can't remember the last time I saw a "STOCK" EVO. Good Luck with your decision.

I don't know how to cut down the scan of my dyno sheet. The limit is 100kb, the picture is 304 kb. PM me on the instructions.
