New Stage 1+ questions.

I know that this isn't totally a Vishnu question but I trust the members that frequent this Forum. I just went Stage 1+ and I have noticed that my EGT's are slighty elevated and my mpg has gone to crap. Get maybe 200mpt. Is this normal? I have the cams installed at ALamo Autosports and they have done many many EVOs and many Vishnu EVOs. ALso, just had the RRE Clutch put in and I have noticed that the shifter is notchy as hell. At high RPMs I strugle to get it into gear. Please help

Ohh and lastley, I have noticed that in the morning or when I cold start there is a loud valve clicking or knocking. AS soon as the car get warm the knocking or clicking goes away. ANy suggstions as what it may be? I have 272/272 -3/-3

Thank fellas

Thany you for replying ANdrew. The EGTs aren't a big issue but back before I put in the cams, stop in go traffic I'd see 350 and when I would get on it I would see at the most 550 . Now in stop in go I see 400 and 550.

ANy ideas on the knocking when I start up?

It sounds like the knocking you describe is the usual tick from the intake cam...this seems to be quite normal in cars with HKS cams.......Haven't got a clue why they make this noise when cold

EGTs are normal. MPG is normal. The clutch problem is the same reason why we don't recommend single plage clutches. We had the same disengagement problem on both of the ACT clutches that we installed (one was on my car!). Both were replaced with Exedy twin plates.

Also, the valve clatter is normal. Might want to try a lighter weight oil to see if that helps a bit.

Adjust the clutch rod, behind the pedal, a few turns toward the master cylinder. That should help the engagement.

I also have valve chatter too and I get about 200 miles out of a tank in the city and 300 on the freeway.

Yes indeedy... that will help. However, if it behaves like the clutches we tried on our cars, the sticky shifting problem may still exist.

good luck and thanks for helping out guys!

So what causes this "sticky"shifting feeling? Throw out bearing? Pressure plate? One of these days I am going to need a new clutch and would like to know.

its the fact that there is oneheavy clamping clutch doing all the work. this is what results in the ackward shifting. the twin disc is great because two disks are used, two units clamping together softening the engagment a bit. just enough to retain almost stock shifting.
