Weekend forecast for Sacramento.
I don't know how you guys are gonna be set up out there, but if you're gonna be outside in the pits and in the cold for 25+ hours you might wanna get a couple of outdoor propane heaters.

I could have sworn I read somewhere that you guys had taken out the acd, or maybe you were just saying that you were planning to... I've got to stop reading the forums in the wee hours when the insomnia is hitting

Is it economical to add ACD to a USDM 5spd and any significant advantages? You guys did the opposite ie put a 5spd tranny in the MR which already had ACD...let us know.

Does your choice to run a 5spd in the MR mean that 5spd is more durable than 6spd

I would assume gearing issues on the six is the limiting factor maybe since they would be using the bottom four gears on the 5 speed and the bottom 5 on the 6 speed...

Good to hear your keeping the ACD Shiv. Was the 5 spd a recommendation from , C&D or a personal decision?

at Thunderhill, the only time I see 5th, is before the end of the front straight....before I drop it back to 4th (after only about 2-3 sec in 5th, 120+ mph) for the first left-hander.
throughout the rest of the track, I have it either in 4th or 3rd (maybe 2nd, before the front straight....naaaah, I leave it in 3rd).
SO I don't see any reason for a 6-speed.....less shifting=better reliability for the tranny/diff, driver, car.....etc.
I know these guys will be having fun.....Good luck on your effort!!!

I think they're doing it for cooling and reliability reasons. David said the 6 speed is really shoehorned into the transmission case and the 6 speed doesn't hold as much gear oil. More oil, better cooling.

Both transmissions are pretty close up through 4th from what I understand.

Well, I guess I should re-read things before I open my mouth. Any way you cut it though, I still have massive ammounts of faith in the Vishnu/C&D/ camp.
