Back to the topic. Here's a short video of RallyReds car on the Dyno. It was taken with my digital camera. So, there's no image stability.

Didn't Shiv mention before that the 03-04 with the 10.5 hotside still don't do as well as the 05's whp wise? Even with both of them tuned? Where's the additional power coming from?

eh, installing a turbo is FAR EASIER than taking one apart and putting it back together.

Turbo instal is cake compared to ripping one apart.....

id love to get the benefits of the hotside for only 250.....that would be awesome.

Slightly revised compressor housing. Malibu Jack has been doing some research on these...

"for another 300" <-- That's why.

Hey I appreciate the comment Terry S. I remember reading that post from Malibu Jack also. I just though that he didn't no if it was really any benefit. Thanks though!

He was saying that the housing is very slightly larger, almost not noticeable. You might want to contact him directly though for more details since I dont want to hijack this thread and/or misquote Jack.

Its not like Andrew hasn't done like ten of them already! Its a cake walk taking the OE 16G apart and putting the new hotside on once you have the turbo out of the car.

andrew, i wasn't trying to tell you whats involved in it, LOL, i was just making a general statement. how about this, if i bring you the turbo, how long would it take you to put the hotside on? PM me a price if you don't mind. i would love to do the hotside, and i can get the turbo out myself.

Dude, WHAAAAT are you talking about? Taylor did a hotside and I have the Tommi Makinen turbo, and we're within 1.5whp of each other on pump gas. The hotside makes all the power of the titanium 10.5 at less than half the cost.

Dont get me wrong, I'm happy as heck with the car. Just curious about the power differences... Maybe a different cam gear setting will help ?
First off, congrats to RallyRedEVO for what looks to be one heck of a sweet Evo! Very nice power, and great numbers, esp. on a DD dyno.

easyevo,

You list the MR downpipe in your mod list, what size exhaust are you running? My guess would be that if you're not running a full 3" exhaust, you're leaving a few HP on the table and that is what probably accounts for the difference between your setup and RallyRed's. Also (and I am just guessing here), I'm going to speculate that if you'd swap your cams for a 272i/264e combo, you'd also gain some power. Stock is 260i/256e and it would make sense to me to follow that offset as closely as possible (i.e. the 272/264 or an even set).
