What can I expect from a Stage 2 3071 as opposed to a 3037 in terms of power on 91 and spool. Sorry I have searched numerous threads, but cannot find a solid answer. Thank you!
BTW at this point in time I have a Stage 1+

dont get teh 3071. the 3037 is a better turbo. so much more room in teh high end and the slight spool advantage is not worth the relatively low ceiling for power. on 91 the 337 can make up to 340 whp on the dd dyno. on race it can make upto 420whp.

im not sure about 3071 ull have to ask shiv or dave on that one.

this is the diference between the spool of a 3037 vs a 16g T.m.e. one of teh faster spooling turbos for teh evo. it is about a 500 rpm diference. if ur not out ot make tons of hp and more drivable power perhaps the 3071 may be better for you.. but im not sure about teh numbers.
you can run it on stock ic but you need 680 injectors.

I've been trying to understand the whole compress map. turbo spool up compressor efficiency thing and I've learned a few things. one thing that kinda makes sense is. even though((this is an example. I don't have direct info on the two actual turbos)) the 3071 might spool a few hundred rpms faster. the 3037 might actually be more effiecent at a lower boost level and actual still making the same power at say 12-15psi when the 3071 is already at full boost. the actuall boost level is really just a number indicating pressure. just because the 3071 is makeing 19psi a few hundred rpms sooner. the 3037 could actually be making the same power or more at the same rpm and still have more life to breath as the rpms increase. this might be completely wrong, but it seems like it could be possible.
I'm just trying to understand all of this a little better just like the rest of you guys. what do any of yall with actual experience with this think of my little theory....

Reading a compressor map ... here's a method I found some time ago - I forgot who posted it, but here's the snippet:
The whole spoolup debate is something that really needs to be experienced. IMO you can look at dyno results all day long, but on the street the spoolup is bound to be different. My personal opinion as far as the ultimate Evo setup is a GT35R on a built 2.0 liter (9K redline)

A quick way to read the map is you take your desired boost level which is 21psi add one atmospheric pressure to it which is 14.7psi then take the total and divide it by one atmospheric pressure which is 14.7psi. So it is (21+14.7)/14.7 = 2.42. Now you use the 2.4 for the pressure ratio. To figure out hp you take the airflow and multiply it times 10. So if you where looking to find out if this turbo will work at 500 hp you take 50 on the bottom and go up till you get to 2.4 and see where it lands on the map. Which is right close to the middle of the map. Hope this helps, you can also plug in many different psi numbers instead of 21. like say (30=14.7)/14.7=3.04 which by looking at the compressor map this turbo will make 580-600 flywheel hp which is right on par with the guys making around 500 wheel hp at 30psi. If you figure in drivetrain loss from the flywheel to the ground the car will probably be around 409whp at 21psi. With a 22% drivetrain loss...

... hahah... I just thought of something sorry for the offtopic:: off topic :: Does anyone know or have direct experience with a built motor and the Xede. I was wondering if and when I eventually built my motor will it be able to pass emissions. where I live in TN, all they do is plug into your OBD2 port and check for a Cat. they don't do a sniffer test. I was just wondering because that would really sux if I dumped a bunch of money into a built engine and could even pass emissions. It want be anytime soon anyways, but I've always wondered that. :: off topic ::

I dont know if this will help you out or not but I have the 3071 and I hit 24~25 Psi by 3700~3800 RPM on third gear. on 4th its a bit sooner but you can feel much more TRQ for some reason. I have driven an EVO with the 3037 and it was a bit slower in spool (I would say no more than 300~500 RPMS).

Nope no cams yet. To be honest with you I don’t even know if I need cams or not... I mean so far the car had been extremely reliable besides being loud and I am worried that with cams I might face some reliability issues. For example: Stalling while driving and bad idle and so on (keep in mind I might be wrong). I want to invest my money in a nice IC and water injection kit before the cams plus I need a C16 tune and 93 gas tune now Which I will get some time in FEB.

You have stage 1+ so I don’t recommend you to get really anything extra now. However, I do recommend tacking your car to a nice track (not QM track) and see how you can handle the power around the turns and see if your car has weak points or not. in the end its up to you
