I traded some messages with Richard Lamb. He's been doing water injection for over 24 years. He designed the first Aquamist system back in 1980. Anyway, if chemical resistance is an issue he'll build a pump with whatever seals in it that you want; viton, teflon or whatever. 100% teflon is an option for people who *really* need to run 100% methanol or mixes of water, methanol and/or nitromethane.
Great info Propeller!

This is only my opinion and you guys are welcome to disagree and smack my hand. I know that the WIK was made to run extra safe power on low octane gas. The purpose was to lower the temperature of the intake air so detonation will not occur. I know that the purpose of WIK or ALIK is not to run it like an extra fueling system or extra injector. I always thought and read that its there to make things run cleaner, stronger and safer. I like it because it's cheap (water). I think adding methanol %100 will just defeat the purpose of the WIK as you will be using it as a source of fuel instead as of source of cooling. I don’t think there will be a pump out there that can handle Methanol %100 but even if there was (hope so) wouldn’t race gas be just better at that point. They are both expensive.

I still vote for 50/50 mix at the most and I like water. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Burschar's 1st gen kit only runs methanol (well, denatured alcohol) and no mixes. Also, the denatured alcohol is about 11 bucks a gallon retail. If you only use 1 gallon a tank, thats only bumping the price less than a buck a gallon over pump gas.

Yeah, using methanol as a coolant and octane booster isn't too expensive. Plus you can buy VP Methanol for ~$3 a gallon in a 54 gallon drum.

It's called alkycontrol. Their kit can run any mix you want safely. 100% methanol= no problem!

Actually I'd keep it inside my garage, right alongside the 35-40 gallons of gasoline that's parked there on a nightly basis.

Seriously though, for these guys running alcohol injection, they're probably burning through a gallon of methanol for every tank of gas. Paying $175 for a 54 gallon drum is the most economical way to keep their habit fed. What are they goingt o do? RUn to Home Depot every time they need a refill?

apart from injection, would higher octanes be realized with methanol added straight into the gas tank?

If Vishnu is building a kit that runs from a bottle in the trunk you can count me in.
