My EVO turns off

Hey guys,

I could not wait until Monday and I thought that some of my fellow Vishnu friends can help me or perhaps Shiv. Lately my EVO has been shutting off?? It does not happen often but I was able to track it more today. I would be driving and then I would put in neutral, the engine RPM drops down then drops more down and some times it would come to the point of shutting down and it fires it self back and some times is just dies and I have to turn it on while driving. It's not a big deal for me as it does not happen all the time and beside I don’t put in neutral while driving (bad habit) but I want to know if someone has experienced this issue before? Just to put some info I have checked everything starting from boost leak ending with wires but I don’t see anything different or out of ordinary. My engine is running perfect (last compression check) and it holds boost just fine. When I push it it's smooth and nothing is wrong but I don’t know why it's doing this.

Thanks

that use to happen to me along time ago when i first got my car, do you recirculate your bov? because thats what caused my car to turn off while driving. its like de ja vu hearing you talk about it. but once i recirculated my bov everything went back to normal.

I never use bov, I use diverter valve and mine is made by Forge. I am %100 that I have no leaks. I am boosting my normal 24psi and it holds like a rock to 7800 RPM. engine sounds fine just like a Bee and compression was 180 all around. A/F is perfect and gas i use is shell. I have looked every where and I work on cars a lot but I just dont know why its doing it. I have a tuning appointment with Shiv in the end of the month and I am sure he will find the answer but I was just wondering why.

thanks

thats the only thing i could think of cus almost everytime i stepped on the clutch i just watched my rpm gauge drop to 0 and all the warning lights on so i got it checked out and found out that without the bov recirculating it runs really rich and kills the engine sometimes.

well, sorry i couldn't be any help

that happens to me. it's like the xede unit looses power for a second and the car either stumbles or occassionally dies. car runs perfect otherwise. kinda weird?

This sounds like a dumb question--but are you pushing the clutch the entire way in? Try holding it down as hard as you can and see if you can replicate the problem. I can drive stick fine and never had any problems driving my car...but when I got it tuned I stalled a few times in rush hour traffic...turns out I just wasn't pushing the clutch the entire way in(it became a lot more sensitive for some reason). Btw, your car turning back on is it being jump started.

Just my guess, but if I recall correctly you have a lightweight flywheel and that stalling issue isn't isolated to yours.

very good point. I do have Exedy light weight flywheel but I have never thought about it.... hmmm that could be the problem. BTW the problem occurs when the clutch is pressed all the way down while driving and waiting for the RPM to drop to 1K. If i am shifting it %100 ok. However. it turned off at idle couple day ago, it just died.

I agree that 3071 ATP kit has been known to do that. Instead of turbo lag it turns off. Pik your poison.
Hypothesis#2 Also your car might be female because when you drive it somehow it gets turned off.LOL

Ya know.. before you get too freaked, check for a vacuum leak, a vacuum line might have popped off somewhere that you didn't notice it..

When I first got my car, and put in a boost gauge, I had the vacuum line pop off to the T-fitting connection to the boost gauge, when I got stopped, the car would just stall.. I knew what it was and after awhile it probably would have learned a bit and no stall as easily..

Our MAF (if your still running one) is just so sensitive to unusual airflow patterns that you might just be experiencing an anomoly, but give the obvious a shot before you get too worried.

I checked all my Vacuum lines, all attached and healthy. Any other ideas?

Thanks
