a concern

I wanted to ask these question in this part of the forum because I want to tune my Evo with Vishnu in the future and trust Vishnu performance.

I went to the track Friday night, it was my first time. After a few bad launches I got the hang of it with some decent reaction times. I am adding the pics of the slips. I am 73 and I am racing my buddy(74) in his stock 05 GSR. as you can see i beat him off the line and to 60ft, and once to 330ft. but after that he just drives right away from me.

I build boost at the start and launch at around 5500. I'm not missing any shifts or shifting slowly. My intercooler sprayer is not working, I have an aftermarket uic piping, a cone intake. no ecu tune.

Just looking for some feedback as to anyone's thought on what the problem is. I really feel with those RT/ 60ft times I should still be able to touch the 13's.

Is the lack of water sprayer and cone intake with no tune having that much of an effect?
I bought the car used with 23,000 miles and i am fresh of a complete fluid change that i did myself.
Thanks for any help

David

You need to enlarge your pics...you can't see a thing because they are too small.

Changes to the intake may require Ecu mapping. Try putting the stock intake system back on to see if the MAF is being affected by your cone set up.

one of the main reasons that he would pull on you is due to the fact that the 05 evos have a larger exhaust housing 10.5 cm s 9.5cm. this gives him about 15 more hp and 25 more torque than you stock.. this is the reason why he is faster.. the kind of gas you were using at the time could also play part as it has been dyno proven that different gas nets different power.

I do understand that the 05 evo's have more hp/ft lb, but even though shouldn't i be able to touch 13's. i was running chevron 93 octane half a tank w/nos octane booster.

those are really low trap speeds man. Something is up with your car. do you have a boost gauge? if not, GET ONE. and put your stock air box back in if you have one.

and dang, when i was reading this i thought you were saying you were 73 years old. LOL

No i'm not 73 haha. Yes i do have the stock mitsu crappy gauges and they are reading wrong thinking i have a leak. My boost gauges is reading at .8km/cm2 which i believe translates into 11psi. which i know isnt right because then i'd prolly run in the 15's. I am currently working a deal with another member for his old stock box and all parts for $50 shipped. I bought the car used with this cone filter and no piece of the stock assembly left behind. that would be funny if a 73 year old guy owned and dragged an evo though huh

1 the intake pipe without tuning costs big horsepower, i lost almost 25 with it.. and ran a 13.9 at 22 psi.. 2 run a comp. check.. you should be around 180..

Yep I'm with the rest of the guys on the intake ... get rid of it. Also, tighten all of the clamps on your BOV. It's not unheard of to have the stock BOV leaking because of loose clamps.
