XEDE Questions from a Vishnu Newbie

I've been researching this and trying to decide for months which route to go, UTEC or XEDE. Well, today I think I've made up my mind to go XEDE.

I'm kinda nervous about installing this myself for some reason. I'm thinking that it's not going to make a big difference in my car. Maybe that's just the pre-purchase jitters. I have a full turbo-back exhaust and HKS drop in filter. I plan on leaving it this way for a while. How flexible is the XEDE in adapting to future modifications. There are no AWD dynos around me, I only wish I could figure out how much WHP I'd be making......

For all of you that have XEDE on your Evo: How happy are you with the XEDE? If you had to make that purchase again, would you still choose the XEDE? On a scale of 1-10, 10 being the hardest, how hard is it to install it completely and be on the road running?

The main reasons I've decided to go with Vishnu is the fact that they've represented well in the TV shows and magazine articles I've seen them in. And their customers seem happy as a whole. Hopefully, I'm gonna be joining that customer family later today....

I like the XEDE and would buy it again. Also, I had the same mods as you when I first bought it and you will notice a big difference. The install is really easy. It will probably take you an hour.

There are lots of safe maps available for future modifications as well.

jj008,

What mods have you done since you added the XEDE? Have you ever had your car dyno'd? Have you or any XEDE user for that matter ever had any problems with your XEDE?

Thanks guys. Just waiting for a call before I order mine. I'm getting excited....

I installed cams and cam gears. Then I got it custom tuned on the dyno, by Shiv. I only gained 15hp over the base map. I have had my car dyno'd twice at the stage 1+ level. On a mustang dyno I put down 285hp on 92oct and 316hp on 100oct. Last Saturday I through down 304hp on 92 oct at 17psi on a dynopak. I have a faulty boost gauge that is reading too high in which I have been turning down my boost.

I have never had single problem w/ my XEDE.

The xede is where its at. Easily flexible for any future mods. I would def purchase it again. The best part about it to me is that you can discuss your issues in this forum with all the other knowledgable people that have the xede.

On the scale of ease to install, xede is a 1. for reference, exhaust is a 2. LOL

I'll tell you what. The Xede in my opinion is the best way to go along with the XedeFlash. You just can't compare. Shiv and Chiptourqe are always updating and updating the XEDE. The availibility of base maps that are super safe are free to download on the Vishnu site. Even though it may be sometime hard to reach Vishnu on the phone( you just have to know when to call) There are numerous members that are extremely knowledgable when it comes to the XEDE. I didn't install the XEDE but Shiv and the gang can install one in under 5 minutes so it can't be that hard. With the XED your car will change to a beast! Put it this way, I have the Vishnu Stage 1+, which consists of a TB Exhaust, cam gears, cams and the XEDE. I put down 335 awhp on 93 octane. The Satge 1+ base map was so on that SHiv could only net another 5whp out of a custom tune. Great product.

Last thing. If you get any haters on here telling you that the XEDE is crappy or Vishnu sucks it is probably due to the fact that they installed something incorrectly. I have 3 friend locally that have the Satge 1+ and when it is installed right nothing ever goes wrong. It just won't and can't because of the safety margin Shiv puts in.

Ok Im done

I was looking at the XEDE installation instructions on Vishnu's website, and it said at the end that I have to download the appropriate map after installation of the XEDE. Won't the XEDE come pre-programmed?

gsujeff55, thanks for your opinion. If it's easier than installing an exhaust, then I'm set, because I've never had a problem installing exhausts on the handful of cars I've worked on.

like people are saying, the xede is amazing, the only people who have problems with them are people who dont know how to read or are brain dead. Even if you dont live near vishnu, the off the shelf/evom maps are awesome.

btw install for a total newb like myself took less thna an hour.

Thumbs up

i've got the xede/xede flash and downloaded a generic map, and drove it for 8 months with no probs. before i had shiv tune it now its a nasty ride (awesome)! install was simple, i am computer illiterate, and by no means an electrician, and it was installed by me in no time.

go to the show and shine "VISHNU OWNERS CHECK OUT PHOTOS........", as it has my mods and my expierence with vishnu!!!

Get the Xede! In my opinion, it's allot better than the UTEC. These Vishnu guys are very, very helpful and the base maps are really good. The XEDE is really easy to install.

I have had two Xede units in two different EVOs, and they made a huge difference. Shiv installed the first one and dynotuned it and it was great. The second one I had to install myself and it was really pretty simple. Take your time and keep referring back to the install instructions. Downloading the map was trickier for me--for some reason it just din't want to load and the instructions on the Vishnu website weren't updated for the newer software. If I were you I'd ask them to load the approapriate base map before shipping to you so all you have to do is the plug in and removal of the boost restrictor pill. Once installed, I've never had a problem w/ and Xede.

I love my XEDE ... best mod on my car so far (I'm at stage 1+). It is fairly easy to install and, yes, you do want to MAKE SURE that you load an appropriate map into the XEDE before running your car (never assume ). I have posted some pics of where mine is mounted at somewhere on here - I think it's in a XEDE alternate install location thread or something like that here in the Vishnu forums.

Just ordered my EXEDE! I'm excited. It will take about a week or 2 to get it since they don't have any in stock. I'm pumped though....
