COBB Accessport ate my XEDE for dinner tonight

Yep, after my episode Wed. night at tuning technologies, where they were kind enough to let me use there laptop to load a map on my XEDE, my car was "acting up" (i.e. not drivable) and I thought it was because I didnt "unmarry" the COBB accessport from my car. I ran the XEDE, or tried to run it on top of the "stockmap" and it wouldnt work. So, I thought the COBB reflash was to blame, not the XEDE, of which I downloaded the stage 1 map off the website.

Well, I "unmarried" the AP right now, and hooked up the XEDE......yup, you guessed it, the car did the same thing, wouldnt rev about ~2500rpms.

When the car is on the ON position, the XEDE light blinks RED. When I start the car, it goes to solid GREEN.

I dont know what settings are in the tables, cause I dont have a laptop, but its the stage 1 91 oct map off vishnutuning.com.

Not saying the AP is better, it just worked the first time I installed it.

**more info on what the car was doing, and didnt do.**

when I held the gas pedal down, 10% or so, enough to get 3krpms, the revs would jump up and down as if I had a HUGE cam in there or something. Revs would go to ~2,500 then drop down to ~1500rpms when the pedal was held steady....revs would climb sorta slow and go down slow.

I'll try to stop by tuning technologies on moday or wednesday, or as soon as JP gets back, use his laptop to get some of the values off the XEDE.

Do you have a laptop? We can run through a few things if you do.

The solid green light with the car running means that there is a map in the XEDE. To actually look at it, go "Download and show all maps." This will open up all the tables on the laptop screen. With the car left runnnig, set all the tables to zero. Drive the car. It should behave like stock with lower than stock boost levels. If it still bucks and stuff, we'll need to dig deeper.

i'll call a friend right now.

*no dice. john paul is going to let me borrow his laptop tomorrow (hes not getting home til 11pm tonight)

Anyway, when chris dowloaded the maps, he went to "show maps, or whatever" and all the tables appeared on the screen. The car drove like something was really wrong with it, like something wasnt working .He didnt change ALL tables to zero when we went for a drive....he just highlighted for example (500 thru 3000rpms & whatever load tables) to make it a box shape in the IGN TIMING.

IIRC-those values in the ign table were 0.3, and when he changed them to ZERO, it drove OK. I didnt rev it above 3-4k rpms that night.....fear of something going wrong.

I'll let you know tomorrow Shiv, or whenever I have a laptop ready to go.

on a side note, do you have any pics of the XEDE harness attached to the ECU? How the heck are you supposed to get the ECU cover/kickplate back on? Its so cramped in that corner....not much rrom to work with. Any tips, tricks on how to do this? Also, any pics of where to place the XEDE unit?

thanks

For a wrx you should have recieved 3 spacers with your xede that you put inbetween the kickplate and the mounting locations. This moves the kick plate back a few inches and the xede just sits right on top of the stock ecu. This is how i did it on my wrx.

thanks davon. btw-sick videos of your car and your friends. If I had more money, Id go that route, but since I dont, the VF34 will have to do.

You hear that Shiv? Anyway, if you guys dont want to send me any, I'll got to home depot and see if I can muster something up.

We dont have any of those spacers since most people just install them with the xede remotely tucked away behind the carpet by the transmission tunnel.

FWIW, i'll be in LA on the 25th if you want me to take a look at your xede.
