Vishnu Help with Cam Gear Problem

I recently removed my timing belt cover to adjust my cam gears and noticed that the hard anodized finish on the gears has deteriorated significantly. Is this a defect in the finish. Car only has 17k total miles of which about 9-10k are with the cam gears. I have always kept the cam gear cover installed to prevent debris from entering this area but the anodized finish is wearing off prematurely.

Mine did the same thing? I replaced them with another manufacturer.

I am hoping that Vishnu will exchange them since the problem is related to the anodizing process used during manufacture. The company who made them should cover them under some sort of warranty. I'll really be disappointed if I have to purchase another set.

The light colored specs in the picture are actually where the aluminum is showing through where the anodizing has come off.

Those little marks should in no way affect their functionality. I wouldn't worry about it.

Short term functionality is not a worry. Long term durability is. The hard anodizing is used to prolong the designed profile of the teeth and prolong belt life. Bare aluminum will not be near as durable as the hard anodized finish applied to the wear surface which is why manufacturers go through the expense of doing it in the first place.

John,

Give us a call on Monday. We'd be happy to replace them. It's not normal for that to happen so I'd like to eventually get my hands on that and show it to the anodizer. Thanks for bringing it to our attention.

Shiv

Shiv,

This is just another example of why I remain a satisfied Vishnu customer.

I'll call on Monday.

Thanks
