Autronic replacement/plug-in ecu boards
Shiv and Company,
What is your opinion of the Autronic pnp ecu board for the evo? Is it true that it doesn't offer any knock protection? Would you use it before getting an AEM ems? Just curious.

if you have a good tuner you dont need the sensor.. by the time you get knock youre going to have probs anyway... i have had the same tune for ayear and a half without any probs... its worth money.. and there isnt the probs that aem has.. call ben at efi 101, and talk too him... he is the main usa dealer now..

Knock sensors are as close to necessary for street driven turbo cars as any other feature, IMHO. For max power, these cars run at the knock threshold all the time under boost. The only way to keep such a set-up running safely is to have a good active knock control system. Stand alones without knock control are great when you are running race gas but really crummy when you are trying to squeeze out power under real-world conditions.

I actually got to see the autronics in action two nights ago, just to get familiar with the interface. It's very simple. Some of the history behind it is impressive as well. I was wondering about the knock control as well. The new plug and play SM4 box may have a provision for it? does anyone know?
