XEDE feature request: more maps!

Since you guys seem to be working on adding more and more XEDE features, I'd like to request that the XEDE should gain additional map storage space. 3 maps would be great, 4 maps would be perfect, IMO.

That's not possible with the current hardware. The vocabulary is a little tricky here. You're asking for 3+ banks of maps, not maps themselves. One map only modifies a single signal.

The current Xede hardware can only support 10 maps total. With two banks, you're already using 8 maps on the Evo. Therefor, the system is short two maps worth of memory for a third bank.

make sense?

So how about piggybacking the piggyback.

How hard would it be to install 2 xede units and toggle them?

Obviously more money, but there may be a market...

Possible? I guess...but is it worth 900 bucks to you to not have to haul out a laptop in the rare occasion you need a third map?

What if you don't need 4 maps/bank?

I only use 3 maps per bank. Maps are only needed for signals that pass through the Xede. In my case, that's only MAF, MAP, and CAS.

Sure, a third bank would be nice, but then an extra wire would need to be devoted to a 3-position map switch (or two switches).

or, you could get rid of the boost maps and use a manual boost controller and viola, room for another bank of maps

Worth is the operative word. I've seen what happens when a novice messes with an engine on the edge. The insurance might be worth it. Just a thought.

I wouldn't mind having these maps:

Valet
91 octane
100 octane
109 or 118 octane.
