Interesting side effects of SMART? (emissions/economy)

If you're constantly running at optimal AFR, wouldn't this also mean that you're going to have dramatically better emissions because your tune isn't unnecessarily rich?

And, since your fuel ratios are always being optimized, would this mean better fuel economy? SMART works both on- and off-boost, right?

Not really. Under low loads, the stock ECU is already trimming fuel to optimize mileage.
