s.m.a.r.t install and new software

I'm going to use this thread to get the ball rolling on how to do a self-install of the s.m.a.r.t kits. In addition, I'm going to post some updates on my pyXede softare that allows you to collect and analyze the the highspeed xede datalogs.

I don't think that the s.m.a.r.t kits are officially shipping yet, but I expect they will be soon. I ordered some hardware for developement purposes and it looks like this:

Ludikraut and I will be doing the install tomorrowing evening after work. Stay tuned.

If you're wondering about my pyXede software, well it's quickly advancing towards a 2.0 release. Here's a screenshot:

You'll notice the black-4 plots. The top is torque/power, the green is wideband A/F, the white is knock, and the bottom blue is the Xede's timing shift. Notice how the timing is adjusted when the knock events happen.

Yes. Xmap/update runs only on windows and I don't have access to any windows machines. In order to do datalogging, I wrote my own software that talks directly to the xede. From there it grew into a larger program that also does some analysis and can import data from other formats (such as the UTEC).

Another important point is that my software is free -- not just free of charge. You can take the source code, modify it, redistribute it, or do pretty much whatever you want with it.

No, it'll run on windows too. I just don't bother thinking about it since I don't have any windows machines.

Yes that's smart knock. Those data logs are from the vishnu s.ma.r.t prototype, not my car. The data was collected in california, but I analyzed it in chicago. Pretty slick, i think.

Where are you getting the bung welded onto the down pipe? I need to find someone to do the same in the area.

I bought a new downpipe and vishnu had it sent to their fabricator to get install the bung for the wideband. I haven't unwrapped it yet, but the it looks good through the bubble wrap.

Maybe i missed this but how is your software calculating the HP and Torque curves? Do you have a Roaddyno hooked up to it also or something? This looks very interesting. Now I can't wait to get my Smart system in too.

Old versions are here: http://www.donour.com/cars/pyxede.

As I said, i'm working on the 2.0 series now, but 1.0 is functional and fairly well tested.
