v3 Xede makes clicking sound under hood

So I have a v2 Xede and and upgraded to a new v3 Xede unit. Today when I got to work, I noticed this funny clicking tapping sound from the front of the car. Thought it was the power steering.
Go to lunch, notice it again only a lot louder now after a 20 minute freeway drive in 95 degree heat. I found it isn't the power steering. Sound was coming from underneath the airbox.

I had just installed my v3 Xede so I thought it might be a problem with the boost control. Could I have installed it incorrectly to cause this problem? I plugged the female end into the yellow harness receiver, and then plugged the blue Xede wire to the brown one together. They seemed to be the right shape but didn't fit together very well, meaning it didn't like to stay. Stuck it together with black tape instead of heat shrink. I thought I followed the instructions fully.

To get home I just unplugged the blue and brown wires, and it peaks at like .8kg/cm^2 boost.

Or maybe I messed up converting my v2 maps to v3?
This is what I did:
1) Connect to old Xede while still installed. Downloaded my v2 maps with the Xmap v2.
2) Saved them and then installed the v3 Xede.
3) Fired it up with Xmap v3 downloaded yesterday, found that the v3 Xede maps were empty (of course). I go File, Import v2 maps, and it gives a buncha warnings.
4) I then tried to convert them to v3 by following the tutorial which changes (I forget here, it's at home) the An1 input or whatnot for the four maps, and then change the other two parameters for the MAF map.
5) I carefully checked that all the changes stuck, uploaded both maps and burned them. First time, for whatever reason, the burning didn't take. Did not get an error, just found that upon key off/on that there were no maps still. Tried again & that's fixed now.

Car seemed to drive fine, and before disconnecting the boost wires it boosted fine too. Just the clicking noise when like parking has got me worried.

Any advice?

Thanks!

Zero out the lowest two rows in the boost map.

Shiv posted this fix sometime ago in a thread on the topic.

Yup, I started a thread about this a while ago. zero out the boost map below 20% load.

Hrm...... I'll give it a try, but I have confusion (like usual!)

per this thread, Shiv said to zero out the bottom rows, which varies depending upon v2 or v3:

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...d.php?t=135901

Is that what y'all are talking about?

If yes, that's great. But in Shiv's tutorial, he says "For v3, keep the rows below 25 kept to zero." Well, of course my v3 Map 4 goes 5, 10, 20, 30 ... So it doesn't look exactly like Shiv's screenshot. Maybe not a big deal.

So I can easily zero out 5, 10 and 20. Will that do it and get rid of my clicking?

Just wondering, why isn't that covered in the v2->v3 upgrade tutorial? Shouldn't this be a problem for everyone doing the conversion?

Thanks!

Thanks for the link, Donour. I think it is the same issue. I have heard it only when almost stopped or stopped. Like when pulling into a parking space. Couldn't hear it when driving over the road noise or winders down.

Thanks again
