Question Help!! Cannot run Xmap3

Just as the title said, I cannot for the life of me to get xmap3 to run. I just did the upgrading to firmware version 3 as instructed and everything went fine. I tried to run xmap3 and get this message
ERROR -reading printdialog 1>copies there is no default printer currently selected.
I press the OK button and everything close. Now I tried to run xmap 3 before and got this message but thought that I need to do the firmware upgrade before xmap3 run. It still get the same message. I had xmap2 running fine and no problem with communicating with xede and loading map but some reason I cannot get rid of this error message. Now I deleted xmap2 thinking it was interferring, nope. deleted xupdate, nope. So I am at end wit. Let me know how I can fix this problem and can I run version3 with no map load in the meantime? HELPPPPP!!!!

It's a known bug. Read the dialog, it says you have to set a default printer.

I had the same problem, a fake printer fixes it. I actually installed a virtual fax through the build-in modem in my laptop and set that as a default printer and it fixed it.

Thanks, like you guy said I just installed "a printer" from the printer list and voila, Xmap3 is running. When xmap start I get this comunication port 1 error which I ignore and click OK to get rid of it and now I have version 3 firmware and maps Yeaaahhhhhhh!!!!. Now I just have to get Shiv to come out in this neck of the wood to tune it.

Change your port settings to COM1

Start
right click my computer
properties
Device Manager
Ports (com & LPT)
Right click communications port
Properties
Port Settings
Advanced
Set COM Port Number to COM1

Dustin, did I remember that correctly?

My com port settings are set to COM1 settings, but I get this error message that says its invalid and that it may be in use by another program everytime I load up Xmap. Then when I try to ignore it it goes to the program, but it doesn't detect the unit and says it not connected???

Yeah, the directions above should get rid of that COM1 problem! Anyway, I figured out what problem I did have with the Xmap.
