will do. it should be getting here soon ( hopefully the 7-23 ship date is still good ) although i did order it on the last day to get the discount. i have been reading on the blowthrough maf. it seems like a lot of headache too. hell, malibu had shiv asking questions on it. hehe. kinda makes me feel better when one of the better tuners is asking questions. that is probably how he got that way in the first place.

if all else fails i will just get the recirc kit and go from there.

btw, what are you still doing up at this time of the night? do you work nights somewhere?

i work at a hospital and generally cant sleep at night so what the hell, go learn something since i am up anyway. hehe

got the parts installed except for the hks bov. the company i bought the intake from sent the wrong flange to connect it to the intake. so i just hooked up the stock bov. and IT IS RECIRCULATED!!!!! so all the vta haters dont get to yell at me. i should have the pic to post in a day or two. all in all it wasnt too bad of an install ( except for the piece that goes to the turbo. got a little to close to the fan shroud and it cut the hell out of both of us. ( my buddy has a small shop at his house which is where most of the installs happen. ) the exhaust is great ( turbo xs ) and the sound is good. not too loud under normal driving and great under WOT. what i really really like is how the intake sounds. really lets you hear the stock bov. i had read that the stocker is able to be heard with an intake and was a little skeptical. not anymore. it is noticeable but not OBSCENE.

i will post the pics and everything else soon. oh, and the injen intake WILL rub the black piece on the underside of the hood. there is an easy fix for that in another thread that i read. i will post that link when i post the pics.

got the pics. hope this works.

just a few more notes on the install. my buddy ( who did most of the work ) and i agree that it wasnt too hard to do the install. the exhaust was ALOT easier than the intake. the stock upper pipe was hard to get off due to the location of some of the clamps. it seemed like mitsubishi didnt want those parts changed out because the clamps were the screw type and several of them faced back towards the engine. all in all i am happy with the fit and finish of the intake and the exhaust. when we ordered the exhaust i thought that a cat would come with it but it didnt, so we had to hook back up the stock cat. but as we all know it is what's on the inside ( or now the lack thereof ) of the cat that counts. it took a couple of minutes to do the modification and seems to work ok. i will be replacing it eventually but i figure for now that it will work fine.

FYI, fluttering BOV generally = compressor surge. Not something you'd really want to do to your turbo...

You don't have to run the stock BOV (it's pretty crappy) ... but with a XEDE you do want to run a recirculating BOV. You can get a recirc kit for the HKS or look into any number of other recirculating BOVs out there (Greddy, etc.).

i agree with ludikraut completely on the recirc with the exede. if the hks is louder than most bov's vented to air, it will most doubtly be louder recirculated than the stock one i have now. and that will be plenty loud enough for me.

and on that topic, where is the best place to get a recirc kit for the hks ludikraut? i havent looked for a place yet and was wondering where the to start. thanks for the input.
