Don't think so. It does this when it can't communicate with the ECU, such as when the ignition is off.

It does the same thing regardless of whether or not there's a code.

I bought the same reader that came in the smart kit, 1 year ago, and it has worked for me multiple times. I will try the one from vishnu and see if that works.

I'll ask again....does it have a SN on it?

Ok guys. I finally got one back to test, and it did in fact replicate the issue. If you are having the Error issue with yours, please send the reader back to us, and we will send you a brand new (tested) one in return.

Sorry for the trouble. We are trying to find some rhyme or reason why some simply do not work.

Read this whole thread. Basically, aside from one person, all the folks with bad readers so far are the ones who received on with no serial number on the back. Those of us who got one with the serial number have working readers. I have one of each, this theory holds true for me, I'd be curious to know how the returned units turn out.

Dustin,

Just got my "new" Creader back and it still does the same thing. Launch - E. It's getting power, Chris can pull codes from the port.

Got any ideas?

Does it have a serial number on the back?

My code reader works. Yes it has a little white serial number on back.

No it doesn't. I sent my old one back and this is the one they returned to me.

But then that's kinda been my luck with this car. Somethings work right off the bat, some need the bat to work

I wonder if they returned my old one after they tested the new one by mistake

Smoggy, how's that car running?

I stick to my assertion that those readers that are missing the serial number won't work on our cars.

Creader

I returned mine but have not received a new one yet. Could it be that these do not work on 04 up Evo's?
